Janile J. Campbell

Janile Jean Endorf was born on March 7, 1950 to Herbert E. Endorf and Dorien A. (Nolte) Endorf, at Fairbury, Nebraska. On March 19, 1950, through the washing of holy baptism, by Pastor Emil Winkler, she became a child of God and an heir of eternal salvation. Janile’s sponsors were her grandmother, Louise Nolte and her aunt, Hilda Nielsen. At her confirmation on March 22, 1964 by Pastor Erich Prange, she renewed her baptismal vow through the Rite of Confirmation and was granted forgiveness of all of her sins and received the redeeming grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, through the gift of Christ’s body and blood by means of the Lord’s Supper. Janile attended Zion Lutheran School, first grade through eighth grade, where she learned about the love Jesus had for us, where He suffered, died, and rose again. She was taught the Bible Stories in both the Old and New Testament, and she was taught to memorize many of the Bible passages. She attended Tobias High School for three years, and then attended Meridian High School her senior year, graduating with the class of 1968. The class of 1968 was the first class to graduate from Meridian High School. She then attended St. John’s Lutheran College in Winfield, Kansas, and was trained to be a Parish Worker. Janile received a call to Peace Lutheran Church in McCook, Nebraska and was installed in February of 1971. Her duties at Peace Lutheran included church secretary, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, Youth leader, visiting the sick and shut- ins, part-time organist, playing the guitar for contemporary worship services, and other duties. As youth leader she attended LSV and ALSV bible study camps. These camps were held at Concordia, Seward, and also at Mount Casper at Casper, Wyoming. At these camps, bible study was held and the youth organized Vespers in the evenings. Before the Vespers, Pastor Frese led the youth in Foot Frolics which he called circle games. She also organized youth trips to Estes Park Colorado (Went to Rocky Mountain National Park); Rapid City, South Dakota (attended the Passion Play in Spearfish); and Kansas City, Missouri (Had fun at Worlds of Fun and attended a Royals baseball game.) These trips included a bible study in the morning and another bible study in the afternoon. A vesper service was held in the evening where many shared their faith with others. On December 8, 1979, Janile was married to Timothy G. Campbell at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook by Pastor John K. Raess. God blessed her with the gift of three children, Heath, born November 29, 1980, Steven, April 23, 1982, and Heather, April 17, 1983. Janile and her children moved to Tobias in October of 1985 and she moved to Lincoln in October of 2011. At Tobias she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. For 12 years, she was responsible for the book work for the Zion hot lunch program; she served on the Board of Education; and was church treasurer for many years. The greatest joy was teaching 5th and 6th grade bible class and being an organist at Zion Lutheran Church, Tobias and also at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Daykin. Janile became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln in 2011. She was a part-time organist and served years as the church treasurer. For 27 years and 11 months, she worked for State of Nebraska with DHHS. Janile worked in the Geneva and Crete Offices and filled in at the York Office. She then worked at the DHHS Call Center, Lincoln, and retired on January 27, 2023. Janile’s contagious personality allowed her to touch so many lives. Someone’s age or roots never stopped her from displaying her amazing gift of gab. This ability allowed Janile to have many friends of all sorts and once you were Janile’s friend, you were friends for life. For the past decade, Janile’s largest joy in life, besides talking and sharing stories of her life, were her grandchildren. She loved being at all their activities. Grandma admired Brooklynn’s passion for softball. She made her way to many tournaments and even practices. Even though soccer was not her favorite sport to watch, she really enjoyed watching Jaxon play, even when Jaxon got tired and called in his own sub to continue the game. She would laugh with excitement at the anticipation of what Jaxon would do next. Grandma tried her best to make it to all of Barret’s sports; she really loved watching him grow and improve over the years. Zoey could see grandma watching her gymnastic practices many times through the year. Grandma went to as many as she could, even making it one last time, the week before being called to her heavenly home. Janile enjoyed helping with the kid’s homework, studying their spelling words, and letting them practice reading library books. She especially loved Zoey reading bible stories with her in her chair. Her last full day on this Earth, tired and half asleep, she requested to give Zoey and Barret their spelling words. She just really loved any and all time she got to enjoy with her children and grandchildren. Janile loved her grandchildren pampering her, from nail polish to foot massages. Grandma could always count on Jayda for a full spa experience. Janile also loved a good card game. If you had a deck, she was always dealt in. She taught us all how to play. Her favorite games were Rook with her children and Skipbo, Uno and Trash with the grandchildren. Janile’s faith in our Lord was very strong and carried her through her whole life. From her youth, through the test’s of life, all the way through her passing. Even after being told the end was sooner than she deserved, she never wavered. Her only grievance, was not having more time for the grandchildren as she knew she wouldn’t be there to see the them grow and learn through life. She could talk about faith with anyone willing to converse. Being a generous giver, she didn’t always have a lot to give, but was always willing to give all she had. Janile was called to her heavenly Home on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 and the Lord Welcomed her Home, at the age of 73 years, 8 months, and 1 day. Janile was preceded in death by her son, Steven; her parents, Herbert and Dorien Endorf; both sets of grandparents; all of her uncles and aunts; and three of her cousins. She is survived by two children, Heath Campbell and wife Morgan, Heather Yager and husband Jesse; Grandchildren, Brooklynn and Jaxon Campbell, Jayda, Zoey and Barret Yager; Her brother, Dwayne Endorf and wife Teresa; Nephews, James and John Endorf; Niece, Rebecca Endorf; Cousins and many other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service for Janile was held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. A private family Graveside Service was held in the Tobias Cemetery prior to the Memorial Service. Pastor Jeff Bloom presided over the Services. Victor Peter accompanied the congregation in the singing of “Holy God, We Praise Thy Name,” “Surely Goodness & Mercy,” “Lord, Take My Hand And Lead Me,” “Jesus Loves Me,” “Away In A Manger,” “The Gifts God Freely Gave,” “Jesus Christ Is Risen Today,” and “Send Forth By God’s Blessing.” Farmer & Son Funeral Home was in care of the arrrangements and online condolences can be left at www.farmerandsonfuneralhome.com Memorials are suggested to the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
