Steve J. Sadd

Steven Joe Sadd was born to Albert Moses Sadd Sr. and Helen Kathrine (Abraham) Sadd on December 10, 1948 at Hastings, Nebraska. He died at his home in Lincoln, Nebraska on June 6, 2024 at the age of 75 years, 5 months, and 27 days. Steve was one of 8 children born in the family. Steve grew up in the Glenvil area and graduated from Glenvil Highschool. He was married to Barbara Tjarks on May 29, 1965 and two children were born to this union: Kimberly JoAnn & Kirk Allen. The family made their home in Glenvil, and Steve worked at Leverage Tools for 9 years while also working alongside his dad running Farmers Co-Op Oil. Steve also served on the church council at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil. In 1981, the family moved to Geneva, Nebraska where Steve worked for Nelson Petroleum, John Workentine, Geneva High School (10 years), Heritage Crossings Nursing Home (16 years), and Fillmore County Fairgrounds (5 years). While living in Geneva, Steve also served on the Geneva City Council for 16 years. After retirement, Steve and Barb moved to Lincoln on July 1, 2023. Steve enjoyed camping, wood working projects, and performing small jobs for others. He was particular about his work and took great pride in anything he did. Steve & Barb also were proud of the grandchildren and enjoyed following their activities and events, never missing a speech meet, one act performance, football game, basketball game or or volleyball game. Steve was preceded in death by his son, Kirk; parents, Albert & Helen Sadd; sisters and brothers-in-law LaVon Mohr & husband George, Jeanette Hendrickson & husband James; brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert Sadd, Jr., Ronald Sadd & wife Shirley; and Linda Sadd; nephew, Scotty Hendrickson; nieces, Colleen Hampton and Linda Kaye; sisters-in-law Lorna Brown & husband Delbert, Ilene Gerdes & husband Frank, Dolores Tjarks; and brothers-in-law Donald Merkel, Delmar Tjarks, Myron Tjarks and Duane Schliep. Steve is survived by his wife Barb of Lincoln, NE; daughter Kim Shaner & husband Mike of Geneva, NE; Grandchildren Alex Shaner & wife Rachael of Omaha, NE, Kipp Shaner and significant other Kali Paulson of Lincoln, NE, Rhiannon Stoner and husband Jake of Lincoln, NE, and Talia Shaner of Geneva, NE; great granddaughter Claire Anne Shaner of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law Delores Sadd of Hastings, NE; brothers Larry Sadd and wife Pat of Doniphan, NE, Jerry Sadd and wife Sandy of Harvard, NE, Danny Sadd of Glenvil, NE; Sisters-in-law Delores Merkel and Ila Tjarks both of Hastings, NE, Mary Tjarks of Cumberland, MO, Frances Schliep of Clay Center, NE; brother-in-law Eugene Tjarks of Sioux Falls, SD; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. A Funeral Service for Steve was held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Geneva. Pastor Jeff Jensen presided over the Funeral Service. The recorded selections “Go Rest High On That Mountain” and “Wind Beneath My Wings” were played for the service. Dixie Schliep provided special music, “The Lord’s Prayer.” Pallbearers included Mike Hiatt, Doug Hendrickson, Bryan Sadd, Rick Sadd, Randy Sadd, Jerry Sadd, Jr, and Keith Sadd. Honorary pallbearers included Ron Doremus, John Workentine, Dan Hendrickson, Norman Girmus, and Bob Brown. It was Steve’s wish to be cremated following the Funeral Service and there will be a private Committal of Ashes at the Geneva Public Cemetery at a later date.
