Bill L. Marget

Billy “Bill” L. Marget was born in Geneva, NE, to Buster and Martha (Drommond) Marget on November 25, 1951, and passed away on July 6, 2014 in Henderson, NE. at the age of 62 after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. He graduated from Fairmont Public High School in 1970. Bill was married to Wanda Mae Chapman on July 23, 1972 at the United Methodist Church in Fairmont, Ne on a very hot July day; they were married 41 years 11 months. Bill worked at NKC Grain with his brother Jim in Fairmont and as a welder in his own shop in Exeter, Ne, and later worked as a Land Leveler for George Thompson. Since January 1st of 1979, Bill worked for Fillmore County, mostly as a maintainer operator where he knew the roads well and prided himself on keeping them in excellent condition. He enjoyed toy tractors and big tractors as long as they were red, and delighted many children by giving them tractor rides, including both of his grandsons. Bill also enjoyed his motorcycle and going for rides on it with his wife, Wanda. They spent time together on his bike from the time they were dating until recent years. Bill was preceded in death by his father Buster Marget, brother in law John Hughes, father in law Monte Chapman, and grandson Isaiah Monte McGahan. Bill is survived by his spouse Wanda Mae (Chapman) Marget, daughters Julie (Chris) McGahan of Lincoln and Janet (Kevin) Bride of Lincoln, grandchildren Nicholas and Andrew McGahan, mother Martha Marget of Fairmont, sisters Marge Marget of Geneva, Linda Hughes (Marget) of Fairmont, brothers and sisters-in-law Jim (Annette) Marget of Fairmont, Don (Jessie) Marget of Fairmont, Jerry (Rachel) Marget of Western, and Cheryl Marget of Fairmont, sisters in law Linda (Dan) Bohling of McNeal, Az, Pam (Chad) Baker of Firth, Ne, and Marcia (Steve) Cantrell of Fairmont, Ne, mother in law Edith Chapman, and many nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. Funeral services for Bill will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the Fairmont Community Church in Fairmont, Nebraska. Interment will be in the Fairmont Public Cemetery following the service. Public visitation will begin Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva, Nebraska with family greeting friends from 5:00 until 7:00. Memorials are directed to the Fairmont Public Library, Fairmont Public Cemetery or the Fairmont Volunteer Fire Department in lieu of flowers.
