Deborah Jo Orlando

A Memorial Service for Deborah was held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in York, Nebraska. Pastor Trudy Hanke presided over the Memorial Service. A private Committal of Ashes will take place at Arborville Cemetery, Polk, Nebraska, at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Deborah Jo Orlando was born to Virgil L. and Arlene I. (Krause) Cohagan on January 13th, 1954 at Geneva, Nebraska and passed away January 16th, 2025, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, Nebraska at the age of 71 years and 3 days, surrounded by loved ones. She was one of 4 children in the family. Deb attended various schools as her father was in the United States Army. She graduated from York High School. She married Robert (Bob) Orlando on July 2nd, 1972 at the United Methodist Church in York, Nebraska. They resided in York until 1995 before moving to Bradshaw, Nebraska. In 2024 she moved to Grand Island, Nebraska. Deb worked in various fields consisting of janitorial work at York College, production work at BonnaVilla Homes, a teller at York State Bank, and the job that she loved the most: being a Home Health Aide for York General Home Health Care. Deb loved making craft items, Diamond Painting, cooking large meals for every holiday & don't forget the dessert! She loved decorating her home and had a green thumb for flowers and plants, and she had a knack for creating beautiful floral arrangements. She loved bird watching, and her favorite birds were Finches, Cardinals & Orioles that visited her bird feeders. Deb joined Red Hat Society, Friends Forever, and was a member of VFW Auxiliary in York & Grand Island. She had many close friends that filled her life with joy and companionship, and she loved them dearly and they added much happiness to her life. The light of Deb’s life were children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She made it a priority to be active in their lives. Deb was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil & Arlene Cohagan; and brothers, Larry Cohagan & Kent Cohagan. Left to mourn her passing are her husband Robert (Bob) Orlando of Grand Island, Nebraska; daughter, Deanna (Mike) Zeman of Grand Island, Nebraska; son, Stacey (Star) Orlando of Franklin, Nebraska; grandchildren, Elli (Tyler) Valish of Columbus, Nebraska, Conner (Kyley) Johnson of Stromsburg, Nebraska, Tyler Zeman of Grand Island, Nebraska, Trenton Orlando of York, Nebraska, Anthony Hubbard of Greenwood, Nebraska, Kyra (Eric) Rowe of York, Nebraska, BJ Hubbard of Geneva, Nebraska; and many great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Wanda (Jim) Hoover of York, Nebraska; aunts & uncles, Marlan (Nancy) Cohagan of McCool Junction, Nebraska, Larry (Karen) Doran of Branson, Missouri, Loree Irmer of Russellville, Arkansas; and nephew, Dallas (Brandi) Hoover of Lincoln, Nebraska.
