Diana Jo Chapman

A Memorial Service for Diana will be Friday, February 28, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva, Nebraska. Kim Dunker will preside over the Memorial Service. A time of fellowship will be held at the Geneva VFW from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. immediately following the Memorial Service. Memorials are suggested to the Geneva Public Library. Diana Jo Chapman was born to Donald E. Kennedy and Sandra Lou Metternick on February 3rd, 1958 in Moline, Illinois and passed away on February 12th, 2025 at Bryan East in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 67. She was one of 4 children in her family. Diana was raised in Moline and remained in Illinois throughout her twenties. Notably, she was an auto mechanic at Sears, a rarity for a woman in the 1980s. In her early thirties, she began to travel back and forth between Illinois and Belvidere, Nebraska to visit her ill mother. During this time, she settled in the area and met Charles Chapman. They had their son Joseph in 1992 and were wed on August 27th, 1993. They lived outside of Geneva for 31 years until her death. Among many occupations throughout her life, Diana started work as a cook at the Fillmore Central High School in 2009 and worked there until her retirement in 2022. In her free time, Diana loved reading, crossword puzzles, and playing solitaire. She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, especially during the holidays and on fishing trips. Diana could always be relied upon, not only for her cheery demeanor but also the sage advice that came from many interesting experiences over her 67 years. Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Sandra, her loving foster parents, Clyde and Kay Dodds, and sisters Elizabeth Corbitt and Deborah Durand. She is survived by her husband Charles and his eight siblings; sons Charles of Fairmont, Chad and wife Bonnie of Lincoln, Dustin and wife Sarah of Lincoln, and Joseph of Hastings; her grandchildren Macy, Brian Swink, Brooke (Cody Cormier), Riley, Mariah (Noah) Miller, Gunnar, Remy, and Calin; her great-grandchildren Adeline, Justice, Beau, and Josie, and countless friends throughout Geneva and the surrounding communities.
