A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Harlan Waskowiak presiding. A Public Visitation will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva, Nebraska. Private Graveside Services will be held at the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in rural Shickley, Nebraska. Florence was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Dondlinger on Dec. 27, 1950, which Flo described as a “very, very cold day”, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church near Shickley. To them, six children were born. Florence was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Florence was known for spoiling her children and grandchildren with her delicious made from scratch cinnamon rolls, chocolate chip cookie dough, popcorn on the stovetop, and especially her famous Christmas sugar cookies. She always made sure to make everyone’s favorite homecooked meal when they visited. Repeated requests always included fried chicken, round steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade bread, coleslaw, peach upside down cake, and of course her fruitcake. Board games and cards were always at the center of every gathering with friends and family. Florence always seemed to stay busy with such things as sewing, gardening, canning, and attending the athletic events of her children and grandchildren. She looked forward to participating in her weekly Wednesday night bowling league. Florence was a member of the St. Mary’s Altar Society. Her unreserved personality, humor, and loving nature will be truly missed by all who knew her. Florence is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Susanne; Rich and Lori all of Lincoln; Howard and Sandy of Kearney; daughters and sons-in-law, Pat Kuhns and Ken Harlow of Lincoln; Mona and Leonard Sluka of Geneva; Barb and Denny Rose of Hastings. Grandchildren are Michelle (Kuhns) and Gabe Ahlberg of Lincoln; Tara (Konzak) and Rob Richards of Omaha; Jami (Konzak) and Scott Potthoff of Shickley; Marcy (Konzak) and Brian Benge of Lincoln; Kellen and Jill Sluka of Beatrice; Wade and Taylor Sluka of Geneva; Stan Rose of Dallas, TX; Denise (Rose) and Bill Kastanis of Santa Rosa, CA; Justina (Dondlinger) and Kyle Brewer of Lincoln; Brandon and Jordan Dondlinger of Tulsa, OK; Taylor and Morgan Dondlinger of Lincoln; Cassie (Dondlinger) Fish of Kearney; Michael Dondlinger of Pauline. Great grandchildren are Tyler Ahlberg; Abby and Luke Richards; Aubrey, Emery and Abel Sluka; Brecken and Bennett Sluka, Jaret and Betsy Potthoff; Sylvie and Vada Benge; Winter and Dane Rose; Vanessa Kastanis; Kinsley and Jaylie Brewer; Demi and Decker Dondlinger. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Irwin & Rita Gergen; Paul Gergen; Fr. Charles Gergen; Jerome & Mollene Gergen; and Clement and Ruth Ann Gergen; sisters and brothers–in-law; Dorothy and Darrel Steube; Sister Marionita Gergen; Theresa and Elmer Reinsch; Loretta and Roger Davis; son in law, Rod Kuhns.
