George P. Lessard

A Funeral Service for George was Monday, April 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairmont Community Church in Fairmont, Nebraska. Pastor Kathy Uldrich and Pastor Lance Clay presided over the Funeral Service. Robin Galusha was the organist and she accompanied the congregation in the singing of "In The Garden." The recorded selections "Amazing Grace, My Chains Are Gone," "Face To Face," and "I Can Only Imagine" were also played during the service. Pallbearers included Dan Vavra, Jim Kaeb, Todd Hummel, Joe Whittaker, Dave Erickson, and Don Bristol. Honorary pallbearers included John Lowe, Olivia Schuman, Scott Engelbrecht, and Jim Hoover. It was George's wish to be cremated following the Funeral Service. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. George Paul Lessard, was born in Mansfield, Ohio to Larry and Rosemary Eich on July 11, 1971. George passed away in Fargo, North Dakota at Sanford Medical Center on March 29, 2025 after a short illness at the age of 53 years old. George was adopted in 1995 by his Aunt Dorothy (Eich) Lessard and Uncle Michael Lessard, at the age of 30. He gained two sisters Monica and Jeanne. They resided as a family in Arizona and Texas. George attended Douglas High School in Douglas, Arizona, later obtaining his GED. George was always a loyal and hard worker having many different jobs in his time, but after obtaining his CDL, his life and passion was being a truck driver for almost 30 years. During his years of trucking, he drove for Allied, Mel Easton and Sons, Friend Freightways and JBJ Transportation. George settled in Fairmont, Nebraska after meeting Michelle while driving truck, and they started Lessard Trucking. George married Michelle (Smith) Palmer on May 18, 2018 in Lake Tahoe, California. God’s artwork made this day beyond special. To this marriage three yorkies were adopted: Sophia, Savanna and Stuart Little. They were the apple of their Daddy’s eye. They Loved to go trucking and on little adventures with George. George loved the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, and shooting his bow and guns. He attended Fairmont Community Church. He loved small-town living, describing it as friendly and quiet. George was preceded in death by his father and mother, Larry and Rosemary Eich; adoptive mother, Dorothy (Eich) Lessard; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Mildred Smith; and grandparents on both sides of his family. George is survived by his wife, Michelle Lessard of Fairmont, Nebraska; father, Michael Lessard of Scottsdale, Arizona; sisters, Monica (Lawrence) Schuman of Phoenix, Arizona and Jeanne Lessard of Peoria, Arizona; and a host of aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, trucker families and friends.
