Harold L. Moravec

Harold Leon Moravec was born to Joseph Bernard & Elfrieda Dorothea (Franzen) Moravec on December 14, 1936 near Geneva, NE. He died on February 24, 2026 at Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, NE at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 10 days. He was the youngest of 4 children born in the family. Harold grew up northwest of Geneva. He attended Rural District No. 81, then graduated from Geneva High School with the class of 1954. During high school he was active in chorus, football, basketball, track, and served as FFA president. Harold was very athletic and proud to be co-captain for the undefeated football team his senior year. Right out of high school, he spent time doing construction work in Kansas. Harold worked for area farmers before following his dad and brother into farming. In addition to farming, Harold worked for the ASCS Office measuring fields and also performed carpentry work, including building 10 different homes within Geneva. He farmed on his own from 1959 to 2002. Harold & Dorothy moved to Geneva in 2011, but Harold continued to help with harvest and farm upkeep until 2025. Harold was married to Dorothy Kleinschmidt on December 27, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shickley, NE. From this union, 5 daughters were born: Rebecca, Pamela, Michele, Lorraine, and Kristi. Harold was a man of integrity, great patience, few words, and unconditional love. Harold and Dorothy were blessed to celebrate the milestone of their 67th wedding anniversary in December, 2025. They found joy in traveling on excursions over the years. Harold lived a life marked by curiosity, creativity, reading, and many accomplishments. He believed in hard work, farming, and most importantly, faith and family. A deck of cards, the alumni directory, and plat book were always within arms reach. He cherished attending and supporting his daughter’s and grandchildren’s activities at each opportunity. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Elfrieda Moravec; brother, Donald (Doris) Moravec; sisters, Evelyn (Eddie) Tumlinson and Lorene (Darold) Richards; a grandson, Keelan Weber; and countless friends and loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; daughters, Becky (Kim) Becker of Sutton, NE, Pam (Jon) Franck of Seward, NE, Shelly (Matthew) Sehnert of McCook, NE, Lori (Ray) Cooper of Grand Island, NE, and Kristi (Keith) Weber of Herrin, IL; 14 grandchildren, Nikki (Scott) Sjuts, Bryce Becker, Jerod (Kelsey) Franck, Logan (Jacquelyn) Franck, Gretchen (Taylor) Dixon, Becca (Logan) Crown, Gabe (Hannah) Sehnert, Coleman (Abby) Cooper, Heidi (Gabe) Lyons, Adam Cooper, Megan Cooper, Kenneth (Shelby) Weber, Kelby Weber and Keegan Weber; 13 great grandchildren, Harrison and Preston Sjuts, Colby Bell, Charlotte and Miles Becker, Ava Binsfeld, Ella Franck, Vienna and Warren Franck, Ty, Clara, and Turner Dixon, Flora Weber; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial for Harold was held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Geneva, Nebraska. A Rosary was prayed on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at the Church. Father Harlan Waskowiak presided over the Rosary & Mass. Gabe Sehnert was the organist and Hannah Sehnert was the Cantor. They accompanied the congregation in the singing of “How Great Thou Art,” “Here I Am Lord,” “O Lord, I Am Not Worthy,” and “On Eagle’s Wings.” Pallbearers included Bryce Becker, Jerod Franck, Logan Franck, Gabe Sehnert, Coleman Cooper, Adam Cooper, Kenneth Weber, and Keegan Weber. Honorary pallbearer was Keelan Weber. A Graveside Service was held in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery following the Mass. Farmer & Son Funeral Home was in care of the arrangements and online condolences can be left at www.farmerandsonfuneralhome.com. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Helena Catholic Church, and Geneva Senior Center.
