Jordan Merrill Tol

Jordan Merrill Tol was born on May 2, 2006, in Lincoln, Nebraska to James and Amy Tol. He went to meet Jesus as a result of a motor vehicle accident on December 18, 2022 near Fairmont, Nebraska at the age of 16 years, 7 months, and 16 days. Jordan was a lifelong resident of Fairmont. He was a Junior at McCool Junction High School. Jordan always wanted a little brother, and his wish was granted when Justin was born in May of 2014. He was baptized on November 2, 2014, at the Evangelical Free Church in Geneva, Nebraska, giving his life to Jesus. From a very young age, Jordan began his love of all things motor. It didn’t matter if it was a mower, tractor, boat, or other type of vehicle. From the age of 4, tractor pulling became a passion/obsession, which also led him to building with his dad. They have built/rebuilt nearly a dozen pulling trucks and tractors. His latest tractor “The Reaper” was getting the finishing touches, the journey being documented on TikTok for everyone to be included. Because of the time involved in this hobby, the family has formed many cherished relationships throughout this sport. Jordan’s love of the outdoors also led to his love of fishing, boating, and camping with his family. Family reunions at the lake were full of love and silliness due to Jordan’s natural talent for humor and entertaining. Jordan was very involved at school. He tried nearly every activity offered at school at least oncel. Jordan was an FFA officer at McCool Junction High School and a member of the bowling team. This fall, Jordan had a leading role in “The Outsiders” one-act play that qualified for the State Competition. Jordan loved music, whether it was listening loudly, singing, playing the trumpet in the band or strumming his guitars. Jordan’s friends have many snap chats of him being goofy and always making the people around him laugh. He found much joy being able to cheer other people up. He had a heart of gold, was kind and watched out for others. As with many teenagers, Jordan’s phone was never out of reach. He scoured the market place for a “deal”, woke up to many missed “snaps“, and enjoyed gaming with his friends. Jordan was preceded in death by his grandfathers Merrill Verhage and Dwain Tol; uncles Marty Verhage and Wayne Tol; and cousin Kain Verhage. He is survived by his parents James and Amy Tol, Fairmont, Nebraska; brother Justin of Fairmont, Nebraska; Grandmothers Deb Verhage of Fairmont, Nebraska and Alice Tol of Hendricks, Minnesota; Uncles Kendell (Chris) Verhage of Arlington, Nebraska, Randall ( Victoria) Verhage of Fairmont, Nebraska, KJ Verhage of Fairmont, Nebraska, David Tol of Brandt, South Dakota, Alan (Sandy) Tol of Brandt, South Dakota, Mike Tol of Clear Lake, South Dakota, Mark (Jan) Tol of Roanoke, Illinois, Paul (Janel) Tol of Candy, Minnesota; “Aunt JuJu” - Julie Atmore of Fairmont, Nebraska; and numerous cousins, family, and friends. A Funeral Service for Jordan was held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Geneva. Pastor Jeff Jensen presided over the Funeral Service. The recorded selections “Lead Me Home,” “I Won’t Let You Go,” and “Scars In Heaven” were played during the Funeral Service. Pallbearers for the Funeral Service included Kendell Verhage, Randall Verhage, Kurstan Verhage, Dakota Verhage, Cole Roeber, and Greg Rastede. Honorary Casket Bearers included the McCool Junction Public Schools Junior Class and the McCool Junction Public School Family. Interment was in the Fairmont Public Cemetery following the Funeral Service.
