Lucille P. Meyer

Lucille Pauline (Werner) Meyer was born to John Phillip Werner and Pauline Karaline Doehring on April 16, 1925, at Deshler Nebraska, and passed away August 29, 2012, at home in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 13 days. She was one of six children in the family. Lucille was baptized on May 3, 1925 at St. Peter’s Church and confirmed April 2, 1939 also at St. Peter’s Church. Her dad had wanted her to be named Rosilda after his sister. Since she wasn’t named Rosilda he called her Ruille. She attended high school through the 10th grade in Deshler. Because of the times, she had no toys and could only remember one Christmas tree. That Christmas she only received a dress made by her mother. Lucy was married to Elmer William Earnest Meyer of Deshler, Nebraska, on October 23, 1942 at Concordia, Kansas, and to them 3 three children were born. Lucille was a member of Peach Lutheran Church. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of several bridges groups and enjoyed playing all types of card games. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing Bingo. Lucille looked forward to summer as her grandchildren visited and usually spend a week or more. During her later years she babysat for Kimberley and enjoyed playing with her for hours. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer and four siblings; Laverne, Helen, Virgil, and Adeline, and her grandson William Burton Kirby. She is survived by her children; Marlin Meyer of Byron, Nebraska, Patricia (Martin) Hockemeier of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Glenda (Larry) Boye of Stevensville, Montana. By 4 grandchildren, Melissia (Jay) Blauvelt of McCook, Nebraska, Denise (Dale) Masek of Lincoln, Nebraska, Rochelle (Shawn) Casey of Overland Park, Kansas and Matt Meyer of York; 3 step grandchildren, Darin Boye of Lincoln, Nebraska, Lori Sabota of Fremont, Nebraska and Kelley Russell of Skylar, Nebraska; 10 great grandchildren and a sister; Charlene (John) Brower of Geneva, Nebraska. Graveside services were conducted from Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Deshler, Nebraska on Friday, August 31 with Phillip Nielsen officiating. Interment was Peace Lutheran Cemetery with Farmer Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorials are directed to Make A Wish Foundation. We wish to express our deepest appreciation and thanks for the care and concern shown by her hospice staff and the volunteer personal care providers. The American Legion Auxiliary and the ladies from Peace Lutheran who served the luncheon and all who donated food and worked the luncheon.
