Marlene K. Schademann

A Memorial Service for Marlene was held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Geneva, Nebraska. Pastor Karissa Miller presided over the Memorial Service. Melissa Houchin was the organist and she accompanied Barb Oetken in the singing of "Hymn Of Promise." The recorded selections "I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You" and "Amazing Grace" were also played during the Memorial Service. Honorary Pallbearers included Amanda O'Connell, Marcus Schademann, Alex Schademann, and Angelina Schademann. A Private Committal of Ashes will take place in the Geneva Public Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Marlene K. Schademann was born on January 22, 1939, in Albion, Nebraska, to George S. and Laura M. (Miller) Cook. She passed away on April 6, 2026, at Pemberly Place Assisted Living in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 87 years, 2 months, and 15 days. She was one of eleven children in the family. Marlene grew up on a farm near Albion. She was baptized and confirmed at the Albion United Methodist Church and graduated from Albion Public School with the Class of 1957. On January 18, 1958, she was united in marriage to Marvin D. Schademann at the Albion United Methodist Church. To this union, two sons were born: Kevin and Martin. In 1959, the family moved to York, Nebraska, where Marvin was employed with NPPD. In 1968, they relocated to Geneva, Nebraska, following his transfer. Marlene was a faithful member of the Geneva United Methodist Church. Family was of the utmost importance to Marlene. She took great joy in following her sons and grandchildren in all of their activities. Marlene was also a very special aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Known for her exceptional attention to detail, Marlene kept her home in impeccable condition. After her sons were grown, she worked in retail sales for several local businesses, where she especially enjoyed helping customers with shoe and apparel selections. Following Marvin’s retirement, the couple spent their summers in Yankton, South Dakota, fishing and relaxing. They also shared a love for bingo and polka dancing late into the evenings. Marvin passed away on October 14, 2001. After his death, Marlene remained active and devoted to her family. In 2020, Marlene moved to Lincoln, where she resided at Gramercy Senior Living before later moving to Pemberly Place Senior Living Community. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Laura Cook; her husband, Marvin Schademann; her brothers, Lester Cook, Gerald Cook, Eldon Cook, Edwin Cook, Merlin Cook, Virgil Cook, William Cook, and Dewey Cook; and her sisters, Mildred Harbottle and Goldie Cook. Marlene is survived by her sons, Martin and Denise Schademann of Seward, Nebraska, and Kevin and Ruedee Schademann of Geneva, Nebraska; her grandchildren, Amanda and Nick O’Connell, Marcus and Katherine Schademann, Alexander Schademann, and Angelina Schademann; and her great-grandchildren, Quinn O’Connell, Knox O’Connell, and Maxine Schademann.
