Mathew W. "Walt" Reinsch

A Funeral Service for Mathew will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Geneva, Nebraska with Pastor Doug Griger presiding. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva, Nebraska. Graveside Services will be conducted following the Funeral Service at the Geneva Public Cemetery in Geneva, Nebraska. Memorials are to be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Mathew Wayne Reinsch was born to Wayne and Janet Reinsch (Menke) on July 21, 1960, in York, NE. He passed away on November 24, 2023, at his home in Geneva, NE at the age of 63 years, 4 months and 3 days. Mat grew up in Geneva, NE where he attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School through sixth grade then attended Geneva Public School until he graduated in 1978. He enjoyed working and took pride in the jobs he held over the years. He started out at Lauber Seed Farm where he spent years being a farm hand and mechanic. Mat then went on to spend several years at the parts counter at Nick’s Farm Store. He later moved on to become a well driller at Sargent Drilling. And finally, after years of long hours and many nights away from home, he settled into a job as a truck driver for Overland Ready Mix. Mat loved his family and was proud of all his children and grandchildren. He loved taking his kids fishing and would never miss the opportunity to fish with hotdogs at the Ohiowa Bullhead Tournament with his grandkids. He’d take pride in camping with his kids and teaching them the “correct way” to fish and hunt by teaching them stewardship and to appreciate the great outdoors. In his younger years, Mat could be found at the racetrack, racing go-karts as a child, then moving into demolition derby in many surrounding communities, then circle track enduro cars, and finishing his race career with midget sprint cars. As he got older, he enjoyed introducing his children to the sport. Mat was an expert at keeping everyone on their toes with his work-hard, play-hard lifestyle. He could never live down his method of lighting fireworks – with a cigarette in his mouth, a slingshot in his hand, and a smirk across his face. Mat would always leave you shaking your head with a smile. Mat will be remembered for the way he mentored and touched more lives than he knew with his wisdom and famous one-liners. He would encourage everyone he met to “Go Fast, Take Chances.” Mathew is preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Janet Reinsch. He is survived by his son Eric (Jodi) Reinsch and daughter Melissa (Nick) Mussman from his first wife, Lori, as well as grandchildren Emmett, Makenzie, Madison, and Sawyer. He is also survived by his son Austin (Aracely) Reinsch and daughter Brittney (Eric) Tvrdy from his second wife, Lynn. Mat is survived by his brothers Mark (Sarah) Reinsch and Patrick (Karleen) Reinsch, his nephews and niece, and numerous cousins.
