Patricia L. Schendt

Patricia Lynn Schendt, age 61, of Geneva, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2nd, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, NE, surrounded by her loved ones. Patricia was born on May 17th, 1965, in Norfolk, Nebraska to Harold and Dorothy (Anderson) Kinkle. She was the youngest of three siblings. They eventually moved to Grand Island, Nebraska, where Patricia attended Grand Island High School, graduating in 1983. Patricia married Arnold J. Schendt of Lawrence, Nebraska at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hastings, Nebraska on April 9th, 1988. The two went on to have three children: Christopher, Kari, and Justin. They lived in Hastings until moving to Geneva in 2001. Patricia was a natural caregiver. She always put everyone’s needs before her own and was willing to give the shirt off of her back to anyone in need. Patricia loved traveling, enthralled with finding the natural beauty throughout her journeys. Patricia’s favorite pastime was taking care of her family, especially her children. As her children grew up and moved on, she transitioned into her most favorite role; being a “Nana” to her grandchildren. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents Dorothy and Harold. Patricia is survived by her husband, Arnold, of Geneva, Nebraska; her sisters Katherine (Charles) Holster of Kenosha, Wisconsin and Janice (Ken) Jax of Mauston, Wisconsin; children Christopher (Amanda) Schendt of Omaha, Nebraska, Kari (James) Smith of Wall, South Dakota, and Justin (Hailie) Schendt of Ft. Lee, Virginia. Patricia is also survived by her seven grandchildren, James, Reagan, Holly, Baileigh, Christopher, Drezden, and Luna-Marie. A Mass of Christian Burial for Patricia was held on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Geneva, Nebraska. A Rosary was prayed at the Church prior to the Mass. Father Craig Doty presided over the services. Ron Fleecs was the Guitarist and Brock Godown was the Cantor and they led the congregation in the singing of “Be Not Afraid,” “You Are Near,” “Come To Me,” and “Amazing Grace.” A Graveside Committal of Ashes will be held at a later date at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
