Ronald M. Kapperman

A Memorial Service for Ronald will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Ohiowa, Nebraska with PMA Jim Germer presiding. No visitation will be held as it was Ron's wishes to be cremated. Burial of Ashes will be held following the Memorial Service at the Ohiowa Public Cemetery in Ohiowa, Nebraska. Memorials are to be directed to the St. John's Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society. Ronald Martin Kapperman was born to Martin and Mildred (Molthan) Kapperman on November 29, 1935, at Bruning, Nebraska, and passed away on November 26, 2022, at Aviva Woodlands in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 86. He was one of 5 children in the family. Ronald’s early years were spent in the Ohiowa area. He attended rural schools in the area during grade school, Freshman year at Bruning High School and later graduated from the Ohiowa High School in 1954. He was employed at Ohiowa Cooperative after his graduation from high school and then began farming in 1955, still working part-time for Ohiowa Cooperative for several years. Ron and Carol were married for 66 years and lived on their farm outside of Ohiowa. Ronald was married to Carol Jones on August 12, 1956, at the Ohiowa Methodist Church in Ohiowa, Nebraska. Five children were born to this union; David, Debra, Michael, Scott and Kurt. He was a member of the Ohiowa Methodist Church and later, St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ohiowa. Ron enjoyed team penning for several years, hunting and fishing, gardening and attending many of his children and grandchildren’s sporting events. He was employed by ASC, measuring crop acres, was president of the Ohiowa Farmers Cooperative Board and worked for Deke Construction during the off season of farming. Ron was also a member of the Thayer County Livestock Feeders Association and he and his wife enjoyed many bus tours with them. After Ron retired from farming, they bought a cabin at Republican City, Nebraska and spent part of the summers vacationing there and enjoyed fishing at Harlan County Lake. Ronald was preceded in death his parents, Martin and Mildred Kapperman; sister, Donna Voss; son, Michael Kapperman and brother-in-law, Glen Spilker. He is survived by his wife, Carol Kapperman of Ohiowa, Nebraska; sister, Delores Cech of Chicago, Illinois; sister, Marlene Wachtel and husband, Neil, of Carleton, Nebraska; brother, Gary Kapperman of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Myrna Spilker of Plymouth, Nebraska; son, David Kapperman of Unadillia, Nebraska; daughter, Debra (Kapperman) Sterns of Lincoln, Nebraska; son, Scott Kapperman and wife, Susan, of Lincoln, Nebraska; Kurt Kapperman and wife, Blue, of Dorchester, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Jo Kapperman of Ohiowa, Nebraska; 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
