Shirley J. Crawford

Shirley Crawford was born on October 28, 1935 in Oak, Nebraska to Clifford and Hazel (Woodward) Hoins. She passed away at Fairview Manor in Fairmont, Nebraska on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at the age of 87 years, 10 months, and 20 days. She was one of 5 children born in the family. Shirley was married to Gerald D. Crawford on March 26, 1954. They raised two daughters: Brenda and Michelle. The family resided in Geneva, Nebraska. Shirley was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved spending time outdoors tending to her flowers. She had a love for all animals and rescued many throughout her life. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry Crawford; sister, Delores Doll & husband Bruce; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Hafer & husband Maurice, Faye Rumsey, and Sherry Radke; brothers-in-law, Bob Crawford & wife Tsuya and Don Crawford. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Kronhofman & husband Dan and Michelle Scheil & husband Doug; grandchildren, Kara Jensen & husband Kenneth, Abby Kronhofman, Tyler Kronhofman, Mitch Huffaker & Shelby Engels, Macy Sears & husband Collin, and Averie Scheil; great grandchildren, Devin, Brooklyn & Micah Kronhofman; brothers, Gene Hoins & wife Kathy, Jerre Hoins & wife Ardith; sister, Rhonda Myers & husband Jon; brothers-in-law, Richard Rumsey and Skip Radke; beloved dog, JC; and numerous nieces & nephews. A Funeral Service for Shirley was held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Geneva, Nebraska. Kim Dunker presided over the Funeral Service. The recorded selections “Amazing Grace,” sung by Kara Kronhofman, “How Great Thou Art,” sung by Daniel O’Donnell, “Come To Jesus” (Untitled Hymn) sung by Chris Rice, and “Amazing Grace,” (Bagpipes) by The Regimental Band were played for the service. Pallbearers for the Funeral Service included Dan Kronhofman, Doug Scheil, Tyler Kronhofman, Devin Kronhofman, Micah Kronhofman, Kenny Jensen, Mitch Huffaker, and Collin Sears. A Graveside Service was held in the Geneva Public Cemetery following the Funeral Service.
