Stanley M. Dowdy

Stan's family will be having a public Memorial Service at Bethel Church of the Brethren on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. Stanley Michael Dowdy, son of Max and Marj Dowdy, passed away peacefully on the night of July 5, 2023 at the age of 66. He was born September 28, 1956 in Hebron, Nebraska. Stan was a brother to Doug and a beloved father of two sons: Luke and Brock. He was raised in Shickley, Nebraska on the family farm and graduated from Shickley High School. There he starred as a member of the 1974 State Championship football team and 1975 State Championship basketball team, where he was a starter at Quarterback and Point Guard. A terrific basketball player, Stan was named First Team All-State and attended Doane University where he played collegiate basketball. He then continued his studies at the University of Nebraska where he graduated with a BS in Agricultural Economics. After graduating, he started his career in agricultural sales and business strategy with Monsanto in Kearney, NE. He then worked for American Cyanamid Company which led him to New Jersey and eventually Denver, Colorado where he transitioned to CH Bio Tech, LLC, for the remainder of his career. Stan met and married Andrea in Denver, Colorado and had two beloved sons Luke (27), currently living in Denver, and Brock (25), currently living in Little Rock. Stan’s interests became his kids’ interests as he introduced them to playing all sports (specifically Basketball, Baseball, and Football), as well as enjoying Frisco, Nebraska athletics, skiing, board games, biking and a multitude of other activities. In addition, he took great pleasure in hosting and entertaining others. Stan’s gift for hospitality was shown in all the special outings he planned for family and friends throughout the years. Watching others enjoy themselves gave him an immense amount of happiness. Stan was a life-long practicing Christian who was most recently an active member of Denver United Church and Restoration Community Church. Stan is survived by his brother Doug and sister-in-law Lori, his son Luke, his son Brock and future daughter-in-law Kenzie. He also is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Stan was proceeded in death by mother and father, Max and Marj Dowdy, and sister-in-law Kelly.
