Wilma R. Lichti

Wilma R. (Steider) Lichti was born to David and Elma (Springer) Steider on November 6, 1932, on a farm south of Shickley, Nebraska. She passed away on October 11, 2023, at College View Assisted Living in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 90 years 11 months and 5 days. She was one of seven children in the family. In her youth, the family moved to Shickley. Wilma was baptized in the Salem Mennonite Church where she remained a lifelong member. She graduated with the Shickley High School class of 1950. Wilma began working at Geneva State Bank following her graduation. On October 10, 1953, Wilma was united in marriage to Richard D. Lichti and to this union three sons were born: Dennis, Michael and Jon. After marriage, Wilma started working at Shickley State Bank where she worked until 1956 when her first son was born. At that time, she decided to be at home spending time with her family. Wilma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Richard; parents David and Elma Steider; step-mother Grace Steider; brother David Steider, Jr.; sisters Frances (Ted) Roth, Lucille (Titus) Swartzendruber, Margaret Uden; brothers-in- law Robert Kennel, Jim Birky, and Lawrence (Edna) Lichti. She is survived by her sons Dennis & Kim Lichti, Michael & Nancy Lichti, and Jon & Karen Lichti; grandchildren Amber Lichti and her children Finlay & Annabelle, Erica & Daniel Ferrell and their children Porter, Ainsley, and Riggins, Mitchell & Amanda Lichti and their children Grace, Carter, and Adelyn, Miki & Tom Loos and their children Carson and Colten; sisters Sandra Kennel and Janet (Bill) Wilson; sister-in-law Betty Steider Gish; and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service for Wilma was held on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Salem Mennonite Church, rural Shickley, Nebraska. Pastor Ben Schlegel presided over the Funeral Service. Roxie Schlegel played the instrumental hymn, “Have You Any Room For Jesus” as prelude and postlude. She also accompanied the congregation in the singing of “The Old Rugged Cross” and “It Is Well With My Soul.” The song leader was Marge Swartzendruber. Pallbearers included Mitchell Lichti, Dan Ferrell, Tom Loos, Carson Loos, Porter Ferrell, Finlay Blohm, and Carter Lichti. Honorary Pallbearers included Colton Loos and Joshua Riggins Ferrell. A Graveside Service was held in the Salem Cemetery immediately following the Funeral Service.
