    July 23, 1945 - July 22, 2021

    A Graveside committal of Ashes for Betty will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in York, Nebraska. Memorials are directed to the family. Betty Ann (Shipferling) (Kramer) Houck was born to Carl & Doris (Rhoads) Shipferling on July 23, 1945 at Lutheran Hospital in York, Nebraska, and passed away July 22, 2021 at CHI-St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 75 years, 11 months, 30 days. She was one of three children born in the family. Betty was raised in York. She went to York Highschool where she first met Darwin before they went their separate ways. Betty married Robert Kramer on May 25, 1964. To this union five children were born: Steven, Johnnie, Laurie, Kathy & Kellie. Betty stayed home with the children until she returned to work at A&W Root Beer and then Kentucky Fried Chicken. She reunited with Darwin Sr. and they were married August 13, 1988 in Geneva, Nebraska. After their marriage, they resided in Geneva and Betty worked at Fran’s Café (Jill’s Sweet Shop) and Pizza Hut, where she ultimately retired from. Betty and Darwin moved to Ohiowa where they spent most of their time together. They would have celebrated their 33rd anniversary in August. Betty loved playing cards, bingo, pogo, eating fried chicken, and mountain man’s breakfast. She was an avid Elvis memorabilia and salt & pepper shaker collector. She spent a lot of time with granddaughter Tana putting puzzles together, coloring, and cooking. Betty also loved her dogs Elvis, Rudy, Spot, and her cat Bootsie. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Carl & Doris; husband Darwin; ex-husband Robert; and sisters Virginia & Joyce. She is survived her sons Steven (Becky) Kramer of Western, Nebraska, Johnny (Missy) Kramer of Geneva, Nebraska; daughters Laurie (Marty) Shipps of Fairmont, Nebraska, Kathy (and the late Bill) Covert of Grasham, Nebraska, Kellie (Joe) Bracha of Geneva, Nebraska; grandkids Chelsea, Jessica, Brittany, Shaleen, Aleshia, Joshua, Katelynn, Jacob, Bobby, Casandra, Krystal, Nicole, Zoey, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Dakota, Kelsea, Conway, Liz, Kody, Tana; great grandkids Ethan, Aidan, Alish, Reagan, Teddy, Alex, August, Marcus, Riley, Sadie, Johnnie, Lainey, Jayce, Jayden, Jaxon, Jarren, Arthur, Shayne, Mathyais, AJ, Tamsyn, Tobias, Vincent, Kynsle, Harmonny, Violet; step-sons Darwin Houck Jr of Stromsburg, Nebraska, Aaron Houck of York, Nebraska, Marcus Houck of Geneva, Nebraska; step-daughters Sherry Gardner of Florida and Trina (Jason) Long of Geneva, Nebraska.
