She was born on December 23, 1944 to Chris and Irene (Krisl) Saatmann in Ohiowa, NE. Christine passed away at 70 years-8 months-27 days. She was baptized in Ong, NE on May 15, 1955 and later in life joined the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Geneva on February 19, 1978. Christine was united in marriage to David Lee Diekhoff on February 14, 1997 at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Geneva. She attended school in Ohiowa for 8 years and 1 year in Geneva. Because she never graduated from high school she worked at getting her G.E.D and finally did on March 27, 1980. Christine worked at the Fillmore County Hospital for 22 years as a laundry aid and kitchen worker. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, embroidering and listening to country music. Her biggest joy in her life was spending time with family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Christine is survived by her children; Yvonne Steinacher (Doug Kotas), Tim (Denise) Saatmann; foster-daughters; Mary (Robert) Lloyd, Debra (Duane) Rohla, grandchildren; Brian (Brianna) Steinacher, Krystal Steinacher (Michael Walrath), Brittni Kotas, Andrew Saatmann (Amanda Tripp), Samantha (Scott) Schade, Kelli Saatmann, Makayla Saatmann, Lauren Saatmann, Cory Nutsch (Stephanie Shaw) and Craig (Jamie) Nutsch, foster-grandchildren; Traci Lloyd, Christi Lloyd, Courtney (Walker) Weatherly and Jacob Rohla, great-grandchildren; Rayana Lloyd, Ethyn Schade, Landyn Schade, Makayla Schade, Gavyn Schade, Ella Mae Steinacher, Garren Nutsch, Madison Nutsch, Anthony Nutsch and Braydon Nutsch, sister; Darlene Schumacher, sister-in-law; Linda Saatmann, brother-in-law; Richard Braden, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Diekhoff; parents, Chris and Irene (Krisl) Saatmann; sisters, MaryAnn Clark and Louisa Braden; brother, Mervin Saatmann; brother-in-laws, Clarence Clark and Arthur Schumacher. After Christine’s sister, MaryAnn, passed away her two daughters, Mary and Debra, were left without a mother so Christine took them in with open arms and they became part of her family and she loved them as if they were her own children.
