DeAnna Strothkamp Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for DeAnna will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Geneva, Nebraska with Father Harland Waskowiak presiding. Praying of the Rosary will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. prior to the mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Geneva, Nebraska. No visitation - cremation. Burial of Ashes will be held following the mass at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Geneva, Nebraska. Memorials are to be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. DeAnna Strothkamp was born to Ernest Theodore Stengel and Viola Emma Reinsch on December 1, 1940 near Shickley, Nebraska, and passed away March 19, 2022, at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 81 years. She was one of seven children in the family. She graduated from Shickley High School with the class of 1958. After graduation she went to NBI School of Business in Lincoln. DeAnna was married to Richard Lee Strothkamp of Geneva, NE, on February 3, 1964 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church near Shickley, NE, and they were blessed with a son and a daughter. The family made their home in Geneva and along with helping Rich on the farm, she was employed by the ASCS office, Coast to Coast, Casey’s, Lauber Seed Farms and the Fillmore County Treasurer’s office where she retired at 62 as the Deputy County Treasurer after 24 years. After retirement, she moved to Cortland, NE, to babysit her twin granddaughters and started a new part-time career working at Walmart as a cashier for 15 years. DeAnna enjoyed playing cards, fishing, gambling, crocheting, her flower gardens, puzzles, baking and visits with her nine granddaughters and making mints for all their special events. She was a bit of a daredevil and had the most fun riding roller coasters with her family and even ziplining at the age of 76. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard of Cortland; parents, Ernest and Viola Stengel of Shickley; father and mother-in-law, Earl and Anna Strothkamp of Geneva; brother-in-law, Robert Strothkamp of Geneva and brother, Dale Stengel of Geneva. She is survived by son, Paul and wife Colleen of Shickley; daughter, Nancy and husband David Laschanzky of Cortland; granddaughters, Crystal (Keith) Sappington of Springfield, MO, Cassandra (Alex) Renken of Dubuque, IA, Sydney Strothkamp of Lincoln, Nicolette (Clayton) Wiseman of Shickley, Paige (Preston) Jacobe of Seward, Alexandria (Jacob) McGinley of Kearney, Montana (Travis) Doht of Aurora, and Sierra Laschanzky and Sheyanne Laschanzky of Cortland, sisters-in-law, Carol Strothkamp of Geneva and Jeanette Stengel of Geneva, brothers and sisters, Gerry (Loydeen) Stengel of Shickley, Daniel (Jeanette) Stengel of Joplin, MO, Judy Zimmer of Lincoln, Genene (Ron) Bowen of Springfield and Mary Kopecky of Lenexa, KS. Great grandchildren, Aftan and Aria Sappington, Luca and Alexia Renken, Alexander, Gabriel, Ryleigh and Lyllian Wiseman and Henry and Lauren Jacobe.
