Delores June Atwood

April 21, 1929 - February 19, 2016

Private family services will be conducted at the Geneva Public Cemetery. Memorials are to be directed to the Shriner's Hospital. Delores June Atwood was born April 21, 1929 on a farm west of Geneva. She was the daughter of James and Mildred (Brower) Fisher. She died February 19th at Tiffany Square in Grand Island NE at the age of 86. She was one of three children in the family. Delores attended Fillmore County Rural Schools and graduated from Geneva High School in 1947. While in school she was a baton twirler and performed with the band at the Fairmont Army Air Force Base, parades and football games. The next two years she worked at Walgreen's and Hested's Stores in Geneva. On July 3, 1949 Delores was united in marriage to Sidney Atwood JR at Geneva and to this union two children were born. Delores and Sidney enjoyed roller-skating, dancing, playing cards with friends and attending Shriner events for many years. Delores was a homemaker and owned and operated the York Fish Harbor for many years in her home. She was a member of the First United Church in York and was a prior member of the Geneva United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Sidney, parents, stepfather, sisters Joann Melton and Norma Lee Christiancy. Delores is survived by her sons, Steve and Bonnie Atwood, Jim and Donna Atwood, six grand children and 12 great grand children.
