A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Geneva, Nebraska with Father Harlan Waskowiak presiding. Praying of the Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Geneva, Nebraska. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva, Nebraska. Graveside Services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska with Father Mark Tomasiewicz officiating the graveside service. Memorials are to be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Donald Charles VanDeWalle was born to Francis Charles and Ethel Blanche (Wheeler) VanDeWalle on August 2, 1942 at Cedar Rapids, Nebraska, and passed away on December 24, 2021 in Hebron, Nebraska at the age of 79. Donald Charles VanDeWalle was one of eight children born to Francis and Ethel VanDeWalle. Growing up Don was a member of the Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. The VanDeWalle family farmed in the rural Boone County area. The family was all very active in 4-H. On August 14, 1965 Don married Beverly Pearl Killion. To this union, four children were born Shelly Lynn, Amy Sue, Timothy Roy and Dawn Marie. Don raised his family and farmed in rural Nancy County near Belgrade for many years, raising hogs and crops. On July 31, 1989 Donald married Olive Isabella Whyte. Olive’s children: Carolyn, Andrew and Laura joined the family. Donald and Olive made their home in Geneva and Bruning. Donald loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed attending the State Fair and County Fairs. Don had a very strong work ethic throughout his whole life. As a young man Don spent a lot of time with 4-H. He was able to win many ribbons and trophies. He was always available to help neighbors and friends with any tasks necessary. Donald Charles was preceded in death by his parents and four infant brothers. He is survived by his wife, Olive Isabella; children, Shelly Daffer, Amy and Eric Pedersen, Tim and Deana VanDeWalle, Dawn and Dan Higgins; step-children, Carolyn and Jim Pitzaferro, Andy and Marty Sheber, Laura and Tim Kuszak; grandchildren include Shawn, Jason, Amber and Abby; Marah, Matthew and Emma; Michelle, Sarah, Haley and Jennifer; Noah, Faith and Joe; Michael and Nicole; Christian and Josie; Maranda, Nathan, Casey, Ryan and Mason. Great Grandchildren include Makenna, Kylie, Aria and Blair; Lizzie, Carly, Shayla, Cashel, Liam, Koehn and Macey.
