    June 29, 1921 - July 24, 2018

    A Graveside Service for Doris will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Grafton Public Cemetery. A public visitation will take place on Sunday, July 29, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva. Memorials are suggested to Aseracare Hospice or the Alzheimers Association. Doris Barbara Miles was born June 29, 1921 to 0. W. and Christine (Bermaster) Fenske on a farm southeast of Sutton. She went to her heavenly home on July 24, 2018 at Southlake Village in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 97 years and 25 days. When she was nine years old, the family moved into Sutton. She attended school there until she graduated from Sutton High School with a Normal Training degree. She taught in several rural schools in Clay and Fillmore counties. In 1946, she was united in marriage to Leslie Miles, Jr. To this union two sons were born. For many years she helped on the farm where they resided just south of Fairmont. In 1963, she went to work as a substitute clerk in the Fairmont Post Office and worked there until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of the Baptist-Congregational Church of York, the Lamplighter's Club, Geneva Chapter #180 Order of the Eastern Star and the York Fun Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Beatrice and Gretchen, and her husband Leslie. She is survived by her sons Stephen (Linda) Miles of Lincoln and John (Debbie) Miles of Marion, Iowa; four grandchildren, Monica (Carl) Steffens of Lincoln; Amber (Mike) Gibson of Lincoln; Dr. Ryan (Cassie) Miles of Overland Park, Kansas; and Corey (Renee) Miles of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and great-grandchildren, Ella and Matthew Steffens; Gunner and Addyson Gibson; Bronson, Dylan, and Gavin Miles; Theodore and Elliott Miles.
