    December 18, 1933 - August 21, 2019

    A Memorial Service for Dorothy was held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at 2:30 p.m., at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva, Nebraska with Pastor Galen Skinner presiding. There were 3-recorded selections played at Dorothy’s service, “Amazing Grace” by Alan Jackson, “Forever And Ever, Amen” by Randy Travis and “I Can Only Imagine” by Mercy Me. Honorary Urn Bearers included Lynn Crabtree, Jim Crabtree, Richard Crabtree, Christopher Kapperman, Joshua Perkins, Steven Perkins, Tom Leffers, Connor Kapperman, Bryan Crabtree, Elliott McKnight, Zack Crabtree and Orrin Crabtree. Private Family Inurnment at the Exeter Cemetery in Exeter, Nebraska. Memorials were directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Farmer & Son Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements. Dorothy Fae Crabtree was born to Fay Francis Rice and Henrietta Mary Susan Frazier on December 18th, 1933 at Benedict, Nebraska and passed away on August 21, 2019 at Seward Memorial Hospital in Seward, Nebraska, at the age of 85. She was one of 10 children in the family. Dorothy’s family moved from Nebraska when she was a little girl and she grew up in Washington. The family returned to Nebraska at the beginning of her senior year of high school and she graduated from Benedict High School in 1952. After graduation she worked at Hesteds in York, Nebraska where she would meet her future husband George Crabtree. They were united in marriage on September 4th, 1954 in York, Nebraska, and to them 8 children were born. Through the years Dorothy and George lived in Exeter, Gresham, Seward, McCool Jct., Milligan and Geneva, Nebraska. Dorothy worked at Palmer Inn at the York Interstate, Holroyd Bakery, Anchor Inn, and Dairy Delight all in Geneva, Nebraska. Dorothy loved her coffee and having coffee with anyone who would stop and have a cup with her. She loved cats, Christmas, especially decorating, garage selling, her children and grandchildren. She collected dolls and magnets for her fridge from all of our travels. You would often see her doing word circle puzzles, watching Gunsmoke, Judge Judy, and The Andy Griffith show eating Banana Nut Muffins or mini KitKats. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Fay and Henrietta Rice, Husband: George Crabtree, Son: Steven Crabtree, Daughter: Joy Crabtree, Grandchildren: Kip Crabtree and Kelly Stafford, Brother Frank Rice, Sisters: Virginia Rice, Shirley Burton, Linda Rice, and Mary Jo Rice, Son In Laws: Dan Perkins and Kenny Bressman. She is survived by Cheryl Kay Perkins, daughter, Seward, NE, Donna (Ronnie) Taylor, daughter, St. Joseph, MO, Jimmy Crabtree, son, Geneva, NE, Deborah Kieser, daughter, St. Joseph, MO, Richard Crabtree, son, Geneva, NE, Lynn Crabtree, son, Seward, NE, Francis (Theta) Rice, brother, Lincoln, NE, Annie Wessels, sister, York, NE, Lila Kerns, sister, Lexington, OH, Glenda (Mark) Dalhsten, sister, Eugene, OR, 16 Grandchildren and 25 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
