Erma Jean Lundberg

Erma Jean Lundberg was born to Lloyd Thomas Dunlap and Adelia Pearl Tibbetts on October 10, 1929 in Irving, Kansas and passed away at the age of 94 on July 15th, 2024 at Fairview Manor in Fairmont, Nebraska. She was one of two children in the family. During high school at Cleburne, Kansas, Erma Jean was an outstanding basketball player and also participated in track and softball. After high school she worked in the office of the Clerk of District court and Treasure office in Westmoreland, Kansas. On April 12th, 1951 she married Elmer Raymond, (Ray), Lundberg in Blue Rapids, Kansas and to this union 3 children were born; Cynthia, Raye Jean and Roger. Due to the building of the Tuttle Creek Dam near Manhattan, Kansas, the family moved to the farm in Fairmont, Nebraska in 1960. Erma Jean raised her family and worked alongside Raymond on the farm. With her children grown, Erma Jean worked at Pieper Hardware and True Value in York, Nebraska. Erma Jean was member of the Fairmont Community Church and UMW. She enjoyed Sunday services. Going out for lunch and card games with her friends after church service were events she looked forward to. Erma was a member of the Faithful Workers Extension Club. On the farm, Erma Jean enjoyed gardening, flowers and especially her pets. Attending the activities of her grandchildren were events she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a consistent attendee at water exercises in York for many years. Raymond and Erma Jean took many trips to visit relatives and friends in Kansas as well as trips to Branson and Hawaii. Fall Saturdays were for watching Husker football and she was also an avid Husker volleyball fan and all Kansas State athletics. The most important part of her life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished every family gathering. Preceding her in death were husband, Raymond; parents, Lloyd and Adelia Dunlap; brother, Gerald Dunlap; and grandson, Joey Ray Lundberg. Those she leaves behind are daughters, Cynthia and husband Tim Sherbeck of Davenport, Nebraska and Raye Jean and husband Marvin Schultz of Sargent, Nebraska; son, Roger and wife Mary Lundberg of Fairmont, Nebraska; grandchildren, Teri and Ryan Opfer and their children Rylee and husband Luke, Camryn and husband Brogan, Jaci Opfer, Jake Opfer, and Tyler Opfer; Matt and Amy Sherbeck and their children Ethan and Kirstyn; Chad and Gwen Schultz and their children Lynzie, Paizley and Kelzey; Amber Schultz and her children RayLee and Gracee; Jodi and Chase Horky and child Nicklynn; and Bridget Lundberg and son Malcolm Lundberg. A Funeral Service was conducted on Friday, July 19th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fairmont Community Church with Mary Scott officiating. Stanley Johnson was the organist and he provided the prelude and postlude music. The recorded selections “Pastures Of The Lord,” “In The Garden,” and “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” were played during the Funeral Service. Pallbearers were Ryan Opfer, Matt Sherbeck, Chad Schultz, Ethan Sherbeck, Jake Opfer, Luke Richard, Brogan Fehlhafer, Brady Brummett, Tucker Stevens, and Chase Horky. A Graveside Service was held in the Geneva Public Cemetery immediately following the Funeral Service.
