October 28, 1949 - October 29, 2014
Harold R. Beavers was born on October 28, 1949 to Orval and Rachel (Coleman) Beavers at their home in Carleton. He passed away on October 29, 2014 at Thayer County Hospital at the age of 65. He was the youngest of three children. Harold grew up in Carleton where he lived his entire life. He lived the last 21 years in the house where he was born. Harold was baptized at the Brethren Church in Carleton in April of 1950. He attended Carleton Public School and Hebron High School. On January 3, 1974 he married Ann Orr and to this union 2 children were born. He and Ann celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary last January with their children and families. Harold enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. He and Ann looked forward to Sundays when they would meet with friends at Bubba's in Strang to play cards. Anytime the "Beavers" families would get together Harold was in the middle of the card games. He enjoyed teaching his children and then later in life his grandchildren the "ins and outs" of 5 point and 10 point pitch. Harold enjoyed spending time with his family and friends just visiting and catching up on everything. Harold always had a new story or a joke to tell. He enjoyed stopping at Cargill in Carleton and visiting with the employees and the area farmers in the mornings. He looked forward to visits from his friend Don Schultz. Many nights were spent in the yard just shooting the breeze or driving around the countryside with Don and Ann. Harold was especially proud of being a grandpa. He enjoyed playing cards with the grandkids, watching them in their activities and enjoyed spending time with all of them. He couldn't believe how fast they were all growing up! Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ellen Edwards, and his brotherin-law Arnold Gebers. He is survived by his wife, Ann of Carleton, daughter, Jennifer Trowbridge (Kevin) of Geneva, his son Travis (Tami) of Wahoo, his sister Muriel Gebers of Deshler, grandchildren, Parker and Aidan Trowbridge, Kassidy, Trevor, and Kinzley Beavers, nephews, nieces, and many friends. Harold was cremated with Farmer and Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorials are directed to the family.
