Jenny Lee Beekman

September 7, 1957 - May 28, 2011

Jenny entered into Heaven to be with the Lord on Saturday May 28, 2011. She died at her home in McCool Junction, Nebraska after a long battle with cancer at the age of 53. Jenny was born September 7, 1957 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Jim and Hazel (Peterson) Whittenbuge. At the age of 17 Jenny enlisted into the United States Army where her specialty was running heavy equipment. She was honorably discharged on October 22 1978. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Cordova, Nebraska. In 1982 Jenny earned her LPN nursing license and worked as a nurse for over 25 years, 18 of those at Fillmore County Hospital. On March 31, 1983 Jenny was united in marriage to Mervin Beekman, to this union daughter, Michelle LeAnn was born. Jenny enjoyed gardening, camping, going to coffee, traveling, going to garage sales, cooking and trying new recipes She also enjoyed antique browsing and being with her family and friends. Jenny is preceded in death by her husband Mervin in 2009 and by her parents. Jenny is survived by daughter Michelle, McCool Jct. NE, sisters Elsie Otto, Beatrice, NE, Lillie (Larry) Thornton, Wood River, NE, brother Robert (Patty) Whittenburge, Dallas, TX and sister Bessie (Terry) Viles, Des Moines, IA, good friend, Sandra Nelson of Fairmont, NE and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday June 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva, Nebraska. Graveside services with Military Honor's will be held at the Blue Springs Cemetery at Blue Springs, Nebraska following the service. Visitation will begin Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
