Kathryn J. Schepers Obituary Kathy J. Schepers, who touched countless lives of all generations with her incredible passion for life, went to the Lord peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2013, in her home after a long, brave battle with cancer. She was 67. Kathy is survived by husband, Larry; and children Michael Schepers and wife Jen of Johnson City, TN; Chris and husband Steve Cichon of Bozeman, MT; and Eric Schepers and Carole Erickson of Adel, IA. Grandchildren include Haley, Samantha, Geneva and Estella Schepers; Michael, Alexis, and Nicholas Cichon; Valerie (Dave) Edwards, Brooke Schlieger as well as three great grandchildren. Sister Judy and husband Mark Appelhanz of Topeka, KS and brother Bob and Mary MaCoy of Waverly, MO. Kathy was born October 22, 1945, to Marion and Irene MaCoy. She grew up in rural York, NE, where graduated from York High School in 1963. Kathy married her high school sweetheart Larry Schepers on April 10, 1965. They enjoyed 48 years of marriage (nearly half a century as husband and wife) while raising their family, farming in Fairmont and surrounding Nebraska. Possessing a sharp wit and adventurous spirit, Kathy partnered and formed Geneva and Columbus Tour and Travel Agency. She would go on to help countless others realize their vacation dreams and continue her travels for many years to remote islands and many other destinations across five continents. Kathy enjoyed life to the fullest with her family and large circle of friends over a lifetime filled with laughter, a listening ear, and a tender embrace to those in need. She has touched many lives and refused to let her courageous battle with cancer slow her bridge play, golf game, or social time. Kathy had a deep, residing faith in God. She encouraged that we all enjoy every day to the fullest. She will be missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to F.B.O. cancer research in care of Suzi Bettger at 816 N St. Geneva, NE 68361 or Fairmont Catholic Cemetery in care of John Smith at 215 E Pst McCool Junction 68401. A Funeral Mass for Kathy was held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Exeter, Nebraska. Father Kuffel Tom officiated the service. Greg Rehm accompanied the congregation in the singing of “On Eagles’ Wings” and “Song Of Farewell.” He also accompanied John Jasnowski in the singing of “Take My Life.” The recorded selection “Ave Maria,” recorded by Jen Schepers, was played during the Offertory. Pallbearers for the service included Michael Schepers, Alexis Cichon, Haley Schepers, Samantha Schepers, Valerie Edwards, Nicholas Cichon, Brooke Schlieger, Geneva Schepers, and Estella Schepers. Interment was held in the Fairmont Catholic Cemetery. Farmer & Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
