A Memorial Service for Lora was held on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Geneva, Nebraska with Pastor Doug Griger presiding. Organist, Sondra Myers, accompanied the congregation as they sang, “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” and “Where Roses Never Fade”. There were also 3 recorded music selections and they were, “Remember Me” by Mark Schultz, “In The Garden” by Alan Jackson and “Hallelujah” by Lindsey Stirling. Memorials were directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Private Family Burial of Ashes will be held at a later date. Farmer & Son Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements Lora Kae Rhinehart was born in Fairbury, Nebraska to Walter Frank Zuehlsdorf and Velma Arlene Dux on October 28, 1950. She left this earth at the age of 69. Lora was the first of four children, Lila Thomas, Lois McGrath, and Leann Zuehlsdorf. Lora and Jimmy Dean Rhinehart were united in marriage on September 10, 1977 at Zion United Church of Christ at Gladstone, Nebraska. Lora and Jim resided north of Arapahoe on their 40-acre farm for over 35 years. Lora worked as a school teacher, teaching 5th & 6th grades at Belgrade Public Schools, head teacher of grades 5-8 at Endicott Public Schools. She also taught grades 4-6 at District 15 in Lexington NE for 2 years. Lora also taught as a part-time & substitute teacher at Elwood Public Schools and Arapahoe Public Schools. Lora spent 11 years as a Dietary Manager and cook at the Elwood Care Center. She worked as a cook at the Arapahoe Senior Center. Lora also worked at Hemelstrand’s Hardware, Subway and the Arapahoe Pharmacy. After Lora’s retirement she moved to Fairbury, Nebraska to be closer to her sisters & family. She lived in Fairbury, Nebraska for 2 years before moving to Ohiowa, Nebraska. To this union four children were born, Heather Jo, Gwen Lanae, Kevin Dean & Scott Michael. Lora was very involved in the church. She attended many bible studies and woman’s fellowship groups. Lora had a very strong faith, her confirmation verse that she held dear to her heart was Matthew 7:7-8. Lora loved to bake and give gifts to friends and neighbors. She was very friendly and was never afraid to introduce herself to a stranger. She loved her family, children, and sisters. She loved the holidays especially Christmas and enjoyed decorating for each holiday. She was very creative with all her decorations and loved giving gifts. She loved to garden and loved her flowers. She found joy in working outdoors. She enjoyed raising farm animals and sold eggs. She appreciated music and placed radios in every room. Lora loved her entire family and was especially proud of her four children. Lora was a very hard worker and her work ethic showed in everything she did. She worked multiple jobs while still having enough time to attend all her children’s activities. Lora was preceded in death by her parents Walter Frank Zuehlsdorf and Velma Arlene Zuehlsdorf. She is survived by her four children, Heather Jo Rhinehart of Kearney, Nebraska, Gwen Lanae Buresh and husband Jarrett of Bel Aire, Kansas, Kevin Dean Rhinehart and wife Laura of Lincoln, Nebraska and Scott Michael Rhinehart and wife Denell of Fullerton, Nebraska. Sisters Lila Thomas of Fairbury, Lois and husband Larry McGrath of Fairbury, Leann Zuehlsdorf of Lincoln. Berniece Rhinehart of Arapahoe. Jim Rhinehart. Step grandchildren Jeremiah, Nathaniel and Reagan Syslo. Nephew Eric McGrath and wife Dana and children Rory and Riley, Niece Kristi McGrath, Family Friend Beth Meirath and many others.
