A public Graveside Service for Norma will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Geneva Public Cemetery, Geneva, Nebraska. Pastor Stuart Davis will officiate the Graveside Service. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice. Norma Jean Lang was born to Francis Paul Burke and Helen Bernice (Pangle) Burke on December 14, 1926 at Creighton, Nebraska, and passed away on March 4, 2021, at her home in Spirit Lake, Idaho, at the age of 94 years. She was one of 2 children born in the family. Jean’s parents lived in several places during her growing up years. She has memories of attending grade school in a one room country school near Geneva, Nebraska, and then transitioning to a large school in greater Chicago, Illinois, and finishing high school in Seattle, Washington during the middle of World War II. After high school, Jean attended a commercial art school. Although Jean never graduated from art school, she did develop a love for portrait sketching and landscape oil painting that continued throughout her life. Jean was married to Edward Lang of Collyer, Kansas, on November 3, 1946, and to them 3 children were born. She and Edward were married 57 years, prior to his death in 2004. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; son Robert; and sister Julienne. She is survived by her daughter Gayle Stanton and husband Marshall of Idaho; son, Paul Lang of Lincoln, Nebraska; 3 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, and 5 great grandchildren.
