A Memorial Service for Norma will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Geneva, Nebraska with Pastor Nicholas Mount presiding. No visitation - cremation. Graveside Services will be held at a later date at the Bethel Cemetery. Memorials are to be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. The family would like to invite friends and family to a lunch prior to Norma’s Memorial Service at the Geneva VFW at 11:00 a.m. to share stories and time of fellowship. Norma Darlene (Hinrichs) Richards was born to George and Gladys (Hughes) Hinrichs on April 6, 1932 at Carleton, Nebraska and passed away January 4, 2021 at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 88. She was the oldest of 4 children. She attended grade schools in Carleton and Thayer County and ln Iowa. She graduated from Geneva High School in 1949. Norma worked in steak houses in the area before getting a position as a youth supervisor at Youth Development Center in Geneva in 1977. After 18 years she retired and enjoyed volunteer work at the Senior Center, Blood Mobile, and Arts Council. Norma was married to Darlo Richards of Geneva, Nebraska on Sept. 4, 1949 and to them 7 children were born. They lived on a farm near Geneva until moving to Clay Center, Nebraska in 1968. They later divorced. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Geneva and was baptized in 1997 and confirmed in 1998. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Roene Pomajzl and her husband Ron, son in law Danny Lautenschlager, and oldest grandson Craig Lueking and youngest grandson Daniel Gerlach. Norma is survived by her daughters Becky Hilsabeck (Tom) of Kearney; Glenda Ott (Milton) Aurora; Debby Richards, Seward; Darla Lautenschlager, New Mexico; Kathy Boswell, Red Cloud. Sons Frank Richards of Grafton and special friend Kryste Wiedenfeld, Lincoln and Kerry Richards of Sutton and special friend Tricia Galusha of Fairmont. Norma also had several years with her very special companion Warren Williams of Bruning and his family, sisters Kay Ramsey and her husband Bert of Beatrice and Linda Pomajzl and husband Larry of Crete. Norma had 16 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends of the congregation at Grace Lutheran.
