    Patricia C. Bornschlegl

    August 23, 1932 - August 24, 2011

Patricia Lee Bornschlegl was born August 23, 1932 in Tobias, Nebraska to Chauncey and Estelle McKay. They moved to Fairbury, Nebraska about 4 years later where she graduated from Fairbury High School. Pat attended college for one year in Winfield, Kansas. She transferred to Peru, Nebraska where she met Donaven Bornschlegl in 1951. Pat and Don were married on February 3, 1952 at the home of her parents in Fairbury. While at Peru State College, Pat was a cheerleader and belonged to the art club. Pat and Don were blessed with 6 children: Jeffrey 1952, Dirk 1953 (deceased), Eric 1956, Andrea 1957, Fletcher 1960 and Garth 1965. She was a stay at home mom and took care of the 6 children and, of course, her husband Don. Their 2nd son Donaven Dirk was killed in a motorcycle accident in Gothenburg, Nebraska at the age of 19. Pat loved to go to antique shops and garage sales. She loved playing bridge and belonged to several bridge clubs. She enjoyed drawing and painting on canvas. Pat also loved to decorate homes that she and Don remodeled. She was extremely good and very gifted at directing Barney on what to do. Pat enjoyed watching everyone of her children and grandchildren play athletics with great success. She faithfully watched them and was very proud of them all. Pat and Barney moved to Geneva in 2002 so they could be closer to some of their children and grand-children. They lived in Gering & Scottsbluff, Nebraska for 25 years where they developed many life long friendships. On September 11, 2008 Pat suffered a stroke and after a hospital stay, found out that she had 7 strokes before that were never diagnosed. During this time we continued to enjoy time with her. Her health continued to decline until her death, one day after her 79th birthday. Pat was a very loving mother, wife and friend. She was the greatest. Services for Patricia will be on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Geneva with Pastor Stephen Kruschel officiating the services. Visitation will be on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva. Memorials are directed to the family to be designated later.
