    October 1, 1932 - June 14, 2015

    Funeral service for Patty will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bruning, Nebraska with Pastor Stuart Sell officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery following the service. Visitation will begin Tuesday from 2 pm until 8 pm at the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva, Nebraska. Memorials are directed to the Bruning American Legion Post 166 or the Bruning American Legion Auxiliary. Patty J. (Thumann) Remmers was born to William G. Thumann and Hattie B. (Portwood) Thumann on October 1, 1932 at Geneva, NE, and passed away June 14, 2015 at Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, NE at the age of 82 years, 8 months, and 14 days. She was one of 5 children in the family. Patty was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bruning NE. She attended school in Geneva, NE and completed the 11th grade and then worked to help support her family after that. Patty was married to Marvin J. Remmers on Easter Sunday, March 25, 1951 by Rev C.E. Schaff. They were blessed with five children-Donna Jo, John William, Dale Lynn, Janet Marie and David Charles. Patty was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bruning. Patty was also a member of the VFW and a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Patty worked for several years at Heritage Crossings in Geneva, NE and because of her service at Heritage and her Heritage family she chose to make Heritage her home for the last 4 years. Patty enjoyed traveling with her husband Marv. Patty also loved to play cards, play bingo, making blankets for all her children and grand children and most recently painting barn quilts for which she was just recently featured in the NebraskaLand magazine. She loved to fish and would never pass up a chance to go fishing. Most of all she loved to be around her husband Marv and her children, grand children and great grandchildren. Patty was preceded in death by her husband Marv, her parents William and Hattie Thumann, brothers Clyde, Billie and Don Thumann and sister LaDonna Thumann. She is survived by her daughter Donna Jo and husband Lowell Schweer, son John, son Dale and wife Rose, daughter Janet and husband Patrick Bentley all of Bruning and son David and wife Barbara of Hebron. Grandchildren Christopher Schweer and wife Renee, Debra Stanek and husband Josh, Travis Schweer and wife Joy, Nathen Remmers and wife Erica, Cody Bentley and wife Joanna, Cassidy Bentley, Colby, Bailee, Kinzie and Mason Remmers. Great grandchildren Bryce Schweer, Tucker and Anthony Schweer, Kolten and Cooper Remmers, Lathen and Josie Stanek. Sister-in-laws Lorna Thumann from Hebron and Darla and Mel Harmel from Davidsonville, MD, Darlene Reinsch and husband Dean of Bruning and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
