Memorial services for Phyllis will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva. Pastor Mike Anderson will officiate the service. Following the Memorial Service, a graveside committal of ashes will be held in the Carleton Cemetery. Memorials in lieu of flowers are directed to the Carleton Fire Department. Phyllis Evelyn (Smith) Stofer-Blunk of Carleton, Nebraska was born to Elmer and Myrtle (Townsend) Smith on August 20, 1923 and passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Deshler Nebraska. She was just short of her ninety-third birthday. Phyllis was married to Antone Stofer in 1942. Antone passed away on March 6, 1946 following surgery on board a ship in the Pacific during World War II. To this union was born a son and a daughter, Robert L. Stofer and Lois Ann Stofer. On May 3, 1951, Phyllis married Jack LeRoy Blunk. This union saw the birth of another son and daughter, Jackie LeRoy and Janet Marie Blunk. Phyllis had worked in the kitchen of the Parkview Haven Nursing Horne for several years. She also taught Sunday school in the Carleton Methodist Church. She loved baking and back in the day, was known for her delicious pies at the Milo Days celebration in Carleton. Sugar cookies and Christmas candy was also a specialty and was enjoyed by family and friends · She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Antone Stofer and Jack Blunk; brother Everett E. Smith; three sisters, Christine (Clarence) Smith, Alberta (Rudy) Stofer and Francis (Donald) Philippi. She is survived by children Robert L. (Gwyn) Stofer of Davenport, Nebraska, Lois (John) Carpenter of Denton, Nebraska, Jackie (Judy) Blunk of Carleton, Nebraska, and Janet Blunk of the home. Also surviving are sister-in-law Lucille Smith, Lincoln, NE; seven grandchildren; two step-grandsons; and a special young man Tucker Zeleny of Lincoln, NE, that she babysat for several years.
