Robert “Bob” Leslie Crawford was born March 6, 1934 in Edison, Nebraska and passed away October 25, 2012 in Geneva, Nebraska at the age of 78. He was one of seven children born to Jessie Edna (Benjamin) Crawford and Milo W. Crawford. He attended school in Strang until the 4th grade and then graduated from Geneva High School in 1951. Bob then served in the Air Force from 1952 until 1962 as a radar repairman. While serving in Japan he met his future bride, Tsuya. They were married in March of 1957. Following his time in the service he returned to Nebraska and lived in Omaha where he worked for Paddack Electric for 15 years. He later worked at the V. A. Medical Center as an equipment repairman. He was active in the Shriners, the V.A. and was past Commander of Benson Post #112. He took great joy and care in transporting children for medical treatment to the Shrine Hospitals all over the country. Bob was also a very generous man who loved children and animals. He did things that he didn’t want people to know about such as giving a sizable donation to the Legion Baseball Team and also replacing some of the flags flying on main street. Following his wife’s death in 2007, Bob moved to Geneva to be closer to his family. He is survived by three sisters, Faye (Dick) Rumsey, Jo Ann (Maurice) Hafer, and Sherry (Albert Skip) Radke. Also surviving is sister-in-law, Shirley Crawford and special friend Jane James. He was preceded in death by his wife Tsuya; his parents, Milo and Jessie Crawford; infant brother Richard and by brothers, Jerry and Don. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Geneva with Kim Dunker officiating. Sondra Myers accompanied the congregational singing of “Just a Closer Walk with Thee”, “Lord of the Dance”, “Hymn of Promise.” The recorded selection, “Amazing Grace,” was played as the recessional. Casket bearers were Maurice Hafer, Richard Rumsey, Dan Kronhofman, Mike Huffaker, Jim Williams and Albert Radke. Masonic services were held at the church by Geneva Masonic Lodge #79 and military graveside services by Benson V. F. W. Post #2503 were conducted at the Geneva Public Cemetery. Burial was in the Geneva Public Cemetery with Farmer & Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorials are directed to Tangier Transportation Fund.
