    Robert H. Rheiner

    February 18, 1930 - May 4, 2018

    Robert (Bob) H. Rheiner was born to Val A. and Mona Hoyt Rheiner on February 18, 1930 at Lake Andes S. D., and passed away May 4, 2018, at Heritage Crossings in Geneva, NE. at the age of 88. He was one of 3 children in the family. Bob moved to Yankton, S.D. in 1936 with his family. Bob graduated from Yankton High School in 1948. Prior to graduation he joined the South Dakota National Guard. His guard unit was called in to active duty in September of 1950 and he was sent to Camp Carson in CO. with a training unit. Bob later transferred to Fort Benning Georgia, where he served as an assistant instructor for the infantry until his discharge in September 1952. After his discharge Bob married Betty Cordrey in 1952. Bob and Betty had 3 children, Bruce, Brian and Rhonda. They divorced in 1966. Bob met the love of his life Donna Johnson and they were married on April 6, 1967. Bob gained 3 loving daughters from this marriage, Connie, Pam and Terri. Bob worked as a maintenance engineer for Kaneb Pipeline for 33 years. After his retirement he managed Pioneer Manor for 20 years. Bob played the drums while in high school and was a member of several different bands during his lifetime. Bob loved to golf and bowl. He collected stamps and coins. Bob loved sports and was a die-hard Husker fan. Bob and Donna loved to go camping at their favorite spot at Lovewell State Park, where they would often be seen dancing and/or listening to the big band music. Bob loved his children and grandchildren and always looked forward to family gatherings. Bob loved to entertain everyone with his stories and experiences from throughout his life and work history. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Val A. and Mona Rheiner; sister Norine Peterka; brother Neil Rheiner and beloved wife Donna Rheiner. He is survived by daughters Connie Vanschoiack of Geneva NE; Pam and husband Alan Schroetlin of Sutton NE; and Terri and husband Steve Mitchell of Shawnee, OK. 5 grandchildren also survive him: Diania Crapson, Michael Glasscock and wife Rachel of Hastings NE; JC Goodwin and wife Jenni of Ada, OK; Heather Gebhards and special friend Brian Gartzke; Travis Goodwin and wife Ashley of Byng, OK; Becky Miller of Lincoln. 20 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and a host of friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date and time.
