Rose Marie Bruning

Rose Marie Bruning was born to Charles and Agnes (Rut) Nedza on March 19, 1936 at Ohiowa, Nebraska, and passed away April 11, 2021 at Fairview Manor, Fairmont, Nebraska, at the age of 85 years, 23 days. She was one of three children in the family. Rose Marie attended 2 country schools in Thayer County during her elementary years, and then attended Bruning Public School from 8th grade until her graduation in 1953. In 1953, Rose Marie had the distinction of being hired by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation. This notable venture saw her move from Nebraska to Washington D.C. She returned to Nebraska to marry Wilson F. (Bud) Bruning on February 20, 1955, and they had the blessing of 65 years together in this union. Three children were born to them: Bruce Alan; Cynthia Sue; and Darren Lee. In Bruning, Rose Marie worked at the Bruning Public School, Bruning State Bank, and Bruning Drug Store, and served the community with roles in 4-H and Cub Scouts. In 1976, Rose Marie, Bud, and Darren moved to Gruver, Texas. Rose Marie and Bud were fortunate to have the opportunity to work together at Caprock Feedlot until 1991, with her serving as the feedlot secretary and administrative assistant while Bud cowboyed. In 1991, Rose Marie and Bud moved back to Bruning, Nebraska, where she retired as a homemaker. Rose Marie was a long-time member of the Bruning American Legion Auxiliary, serving as Treasurer and Communications Director. Rose Marie was preceded in death by her husband Bud (Wilson F.) Bruning; parents Charles and Agnes (Rut) Nedza; sister-in-law Maria Nedza; sister-in-law Phyllis (Bruning) Currey; brother-in-law Clinton Currey; parents-in-law Frederick and Antje (Wilhelms) Bruning; and long-time friends Norman Dee and Carol Schoenholz. Rose Marie is survived by sons Bruce Bruning of Pueblo, CO and Darren Bruning of Delta Junction, AK; daughter Cynthia (Tony) Wolff of Brookville, KS; granddaughters Miaya Ashmead of Bend, OR; Tiffany (Mark) Case of Robert Lee, TX; Tara (Jacob) Chapman of Albany, TX; and Antjea Wolff of Pittsburg, KS; grandson, Wilson Lee Bruning of San Diego, CA; 9 great grandchildren; brother Charles E. Nedza of Bruning, Nebraska; sister Nancy (Jim) Vossler of Friend, Nebraska; nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service for Rose Marie was held on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva. Kim Dunker officiated the Memorial Service. The recorded selections for the service included “Somewhere My Love” by Andy Williams, “You’re The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me” by Ray Price, and “Love Is A Rose” by Linda Ronstadt. Honorary Pallbearers for the Memorial Service included Miaya Ashmead, Tiffany Case, Tara Chapman, Antjea Wolff, Wilson Bruning, Hilary Ashmead, Allin Rust, Kaiden Ashmead, Jackson Chapman, Tyler Chapman, Jaci Chapman, Rhett Rangel, Reed Rangel, and Ren Rangel. A Graveside Committal of Ashes was held in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Bruning, Nebraska following the Memorial Service.
