Betty J. Beavers

Betty Jean (Saylor) Beavers was born on the family farm north of Carleton, Nebraska on October 8, 1926 to Homer & Ella (Dowdy) Saylor. She passed away peacefully at her home near Carleton, Nebraska on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at the age of 96 years, 6 months and 8 days. Betty attended District 15 rural school northwest of Carleton and graduated from Carleton High School in 1943. She was a member of the Bethel Church of the Brethren from which she was baptized in 1938. Betty attended the University of Nebraska for one year. She then joined her sister, Maxine, in Washington, D.C., where she worked for the Veteran’s Administration at Georgetown University before returning to Nebraska in 1946. On June 2, 1946, she was united in marriage to Gardie Beavers at the Methodist Church in Fairmont, Nebraska. They lived in Fairmont where Gardie and his brother Don were in the grocery business. In May of 1948, they moved to Carleton where Gardie joined his father-in-law in farming. Four children were born to this family: Lynda, Thomas, Nancy, and Robert. Betty was a 77-year member of the Carleton Legion Auxiliary. She was also a past member of the Bethel Women’s Fellowship and Carleton Women’s Club. She held a special place in her heart for her 11 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and her first great, great grandchild. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Gardie; her parents Homer & Ella Saylor; her sister and brother-in-law Maxine & Harold Murton; and son-in-law Don Woodcock. She is survived by her daughter Lynda Woodcock of Washington, Kansas, son Thomas Beavers of Carleton, Nebraska, daughter Nancy Heinrichs and husband Rod of Carleton, Nebraska, son Robert Beavers and wife Becky of Carleton, Nebraska; grandchildren Tim Woodcock and wife Amy of Marysville, Kansas, Tony Woodcock and wife Lori of Ames, Iowa, Trent Woodcock and wife Shanna of Hutchinson, Kansas, Staci Peters and husband Schuyler of Washington, Kansas, Nicole Powell and husband Travis of Central City, Nebraska, Brad Heinrichs and wife Renae of Bruning, Nebraska, Landon Heinrichs and wife Leann of Hebron, Nebraska, Belinda Larson and husband Brett of Trumbull, Nebraska, Bonnie Behrends and husband Blayne of Auburn, Nebraska, Brett Beavers of Carleton, Nebraska, Bethany Neuhart and husband Jordan of Hastings, Nebraska; great grandchildren Ethan Woodcock, Emily Ehrlich and husband Ryan, Noah Woodcock, Carter and Callie Woodcock, Ben Levi, and Sam Woodcock, Jordy and Jessa Peters, Kaylee, Luke and Brianna Powell, Ellie, Sophia, and Hudson Heinrichs, Laiden, Laik, Lextin, Livia, and Laina Heinrichs, Tristan, Preston, and Baylee Larson, Jalen, Brooklyn, and Lauren Behrends, Anthony, Jacob, and Owen Beavers, and Otto and Margaret Neuhart; great great grandchild Henry Ehrlich; special friends Rex, Teri and Adam Willmore; nieces, nephews and many friends. A private family Graveside Service for Betty took place on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. at Carleton City Cemetery. A public Memorial Service followed at the Bethel Church Of the Brethren, rural Carleton, Nebraska. Pastor Mike Row presided over the Services. A recorded processional and recessional consisted of “How Great Thou Art” and “Angels Among Us.” Connie Lichti accompanied the congregation in the singing of “Precious Lord, Take My Hand,” and she also accompanied Preston Larson in the singing of “In The Garden.” Pallbearers included Tim Woodcock, Anthony Woodcock, Trent Woodcock, Brett Beavers, Brad Heinrichs, and Landon Heinrichs.
