Dana C. Lauber

Dana Corbin Lauber was born to Bradley A. Lauber and Patricia J. (Meehan) Lauber on June 2, 1988, in York, Nebraska. He passed away in Geneva, Nebraska on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the age of 34 years, 3 months, and 22 days. He was the youngest of three children in his family. Dana grew up in Geneva, Nebraska. He graduated from Fillmore Central High School with the class of 2006. Dana was out for football and golf throughout his years in school. He also participated in the band and choir. Dana attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln after graduating from high school. He was a student there for 5 years and a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Dana met his future wife, Whitney Bowman, at a young age. During their senior year, they began dating and continued as they both moved to Lincoln in August of 2006. After several years together, Dana married his high school sweetheart in his mother’s backyard on May 31, 2014, surrounded by friends and family. They enjoyed their early days of marriage living in the country, but they eventually moved to Dana’s childhood home where they built their life together, raising 4 beautiful children: Oliver (9), Lucy (6), George (4), and Vivian (6 Months). Dana was loved by all who knew him. He was laid back and would always go with the flow. His laugh was infectious, and he never questioned an opportunity to look out for a friend or offer a helping hand, even if that meant taking the fall for a farm truck stuck in the mud. He enjoyed his time with friends cruising around town, and he kept those friendships throughout adulthood. He may have also been an instigator of trouble every now and then when it came to being ornery with cars or paintball guns. Dana enjoyed hanging out with the squad growing up and even put together a band that would perform at middle school dances. Dana may have been most notorious for his flowing blonde locks that he loved to grow long, even letting his friends braid from time to time. Dana was a good sport when it came to friendships and was always up for joking around. He tolerated several nicknames including Dana Cakes and D-Nah. Dana was a box full of knowledge and he would spend many late nights around the table discussing anything including coins, farming, politics, and investments. Dana had a passion for farming from birth as he grew up working on the family Seed Corn farm, and he moved back home to follow the family tradition. He and his two brothers worked side by side, even starting a business of their own. He enjoyed discussing all things related to farming and shared that joy with his children often. When Dana wasn’t working on the farm, he was usually found out on the lake fishing or playing a round of golf. He was a fan of the band “Clutch” and even after frequent denials, he was a BIG fan of Elton John. Dana loved his children and his wife dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. They spent many holidays driving around looking at Christmas lights, decking the house out in all the glitz and glitter, and even insisting on the tree being assembled before Thanksgiving. The Lauber family was also known for putting on the biggest display of fireworks Fillmore County has ever seen on the 4th of July. During his free time, Dana and Whitney enjoyed traveling to Texas and Colorado with their children for family vacations. We take comfort in knowing that Dana is now at peace and will treasure the memories we were blessed with. Dana was preceded in death by his niece, Karoline Lauber; grandparents, Wendell Lauber, William Meehan, Norma Lauber, and Charlene Meehan; Uncle, William Lauber; Aunt, Christy Lauber; and cousin, Regan Lauber. Those left to cherish Dana’s memory are his wife of 8 years, Whitney Lauber, and their children Oliver, Lucy, George, and Vivian all of Geneva, Nebraska; Father Bradley Lauber Sr. of Geneva, Nebraska; Mother Patricia Lauber of York, Nebraska; Brother Brad Lauber and wife Stacey and their children Kendra, Chase, and Lauren all of Geneva, Nebraska; brother Phillip Lauber and daughter Josie of Shickley, Nebraska; In-laws Craig and Tammie Bowman of Geneva, Nebraska; Brother-in-law Josh Bowman and wife Jacqie and their children Jaxson and Johnathan of Hastings, NE; Sister-in-law Madison Bowman of Geneva, NE; Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and many friends. A Funeral Service for Dana was held on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Geneva. Kim Dunker presided over the Funeral Service. Nancy Jo Galusha provided the prelude music and also accompanied Brianna Steinacher in the singing of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.” The recorded selection by Steve Earle, “Over Yonder,” was played as the processional song. Pallbearers for the Funeral Service included Brad Lauber, Philip Lauber, Josh Bowman, Nate Graham, Drew Chaney, and Anthony Soukup. A Graveside Service was held in the Geneva Public Cemetery following the Funeral Service.
