Edward E. "Butch" Hinrichs Jr.

A Funeral Service for Butch will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Geneva, Nebraska with Pastor Josh Hillmann presiding. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior (9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.) to the funeral service on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Grace Lutheran Church in Geneva, Nebraska. Military Graveside Services will be held following the funeral service at the Geneva Public Cemetery in Geneva, Nebraska. Memorials are to be directed to the Grace Lutheran Fellowship Hall Fund. Edward E. Hinrichs Jr. "Butch" was born to Edward Hinrichs Sr. and Elsie Hinrichs (Schroeder) on August 30,1944 in Geneva, NE. He passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024 in Grand Island, NE at 79 years of age. He was the oldest son of six children. He was baptized a child of God in Grace Lutheran Church, Geneva, NE. He attended and graduated Grace Lutheran School and was a confirmed member. He continued his education at Geneva High School and graduated in 1962. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army and served 3 years. After completing his enlistment in the Army, he returned to Geneva, NE. He became employed at A. Koehler & Co. and started working in the lumberyard business. Later it was purchased by Chicago Lumber out of Omaha, where he continued his career in the lumber business until his retirement in 2020. Butch was very active in Grace Lutheran Church throughout his life. He always enjoyed fun and fellowship with his church family. Butch loved all sports "Husker". He enjoyed getting together on game day! Cheering on the Huskers! Uncle Butch loved going to all his many nephews sporting events. Football, baseball, wrestling etc. from his oldest to the youngest nephews! He loved it all. It was a huge part of many years of his life. Butch is survived by his youngest brother, Rodney Hinrichs and his wife, Alyce Hinrichs of Geneva, NE. His sister-in-law, Beverly Hinrichs of Geneva and his nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sr and Elsie Hinrichs; his sister, Anna and husband Bill Blatt; sister, Iola and husband James Engle Sr.; brother-in-law, Ed Roemmich; sister, Jean Ann Peppie and husband Richard; brother, Larry Hinrichs and several aunts and uncles. Uncle Butch was a fun-loving person with a huge heart! He loved all his family and felt extremely blessed. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
