Esther M. Roesler

Esther Marie Roesler was born to Otto Conrad Jordening and Ida Anna Marie Schwisow on October 20, 1935 at Powell, Nebraska and passed away May 25,2023 at Thayer County Health Services in Hebron, Nebraska at the age of 87 years, 7 months, and 5 days. She was one of four children in the family. Esther grew up on a farm in rural Daykin. She was the youngest of four siblings. After graduating from high school, she married Edward Duane Roesler of Tobias, Nebraska on March 7, 1954 when he returned home from the Korean war. They were blessed with four children. Ed and Esther purchased their dairy farm in rural Western, Nebraska in 1961. There she resided as a housewife raising children and working on the farm alongside Edward. Esther & Ed were members of Zion Lutheran Church Of Tobias. Church was a very import part of their entire lives. Esther loved traveling with Ed, bowling, playing games, and activities with her family. She loved it even better when she won regardless who she was competing against. Even after Ed passed away in 1998, she continued to travel, bowl, and attend grandchildren and great grandchildren events until dementia prevented her from doing these activities. She passed away from an acute illness in Thayer County Health Services. Esther was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; husband Ed; son-in-law, Bob Bartley; and granddaughter Jill Roesler. She is survived by children, Kay Bartley, Gregg (Maurene) Roesler, Gwen (Jim) Reiha, Brad (Geri) Roesler; grandchildren, Joshua (Aryn) Bartley, Luke Bartley, Jacob (Allison) Bartley, Amanda Roesler, Joseph Pape, Emily Pape, Leah Pape, Chelsea (Darin) Engle, Shane (Katie) Roesler; greatgrandchildren, Reagan and Landon Bartley, Lydia and Bo Bartley, Ashlyn Pape, Kleo Pape, Aubree, Easton and Bailee Engle, Rhett, Colt, and Banks Roesler; and sister-in-law Helen Jordening. Thank you to Blue Valley Lutheran Homes and Thayer County Medical Center in Hebron, Nebraska for all their care they provided over the last year. A Funeral Service for Esther was held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Tobias, Nebraska. Pastor Gideon Pullman presided over the Funeral Service. Joyce Bartels accompanied the congregation in the singing of “How Great Thou Art”(Led by Gregg Roesler), “On Eagle’s Wings,” and “Abide With Me.” Pallbearers included Josh Bartley, Luke Bartley, Jacob Bartley, Landon Bartley, Shane Roesler, and Darin Engle. Honorary Pallbearers included Joseph Pape, Bo Bartley, Rhett Roesler, Colt Roesler, Banks Roesler, and Easton Engle. A Graveside Service was held in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery following the Funeral Service.
