Gary L. Warren

Gary Lynn Warren was born on August 25, 1957 to Merle L. & Betty L. (Underwood) Warren at York, Nebraska. He passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Madonna Long Term Care in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 67 years, 2 months, and 16 days. He was one of 7 children born in the family. Gary graduated from Benedict High School in 1976. He married Darlene Mizner on August 19, 1978 in York, Nebraska. Gary worked at the Exeter Care Center before finishing out his working career at the Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center in Geneva, Nebraska. One of the joys of Gary’s life was playing Santa Claus for the last 21 years at daycares, nursing homes, and private homes. He also enjoyed summer camping trips, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. You rarely saw Gary without a smile on his face. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Merle & Betty Warren; sisters, Karen Sjoberg, Kathy Warren, and Doris Warren; and niece, Amy Warren. He is survived by his wife, Darlene Warren of Fairmont, Nebraska; son & daughter-in-law, Kenny & Michelle Nelson of Fairmont, Nebraska; daughter, Nicole Peters of Bradshaw, Nebraska; grandchildren, Nevaeh, Brianna, and Kale Peters and Amanda & Tess Nelson; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Linda & Alex Lekai of Denton, Nebraska, Lori & Jerry Wize of York, Nebraska, Kimberly & Craig Wize of York, Nebraska; brother-in-law Robert Sjoberg of Tulsa, Oklahoma; best friends for 62 years, Kevin Marsh and Scott Gonnerman; nieces, nephews and many friends. A Funeral Service for Gary was held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva. Pastor Jeff Jensen presided over the Funeral Service. The recorded selections “Amazing Grace,” “In Color,” “The Old Rugged Cross,” and “Remember When” were played during the Funeral Service. Pallbearers included Shawn Mizner, Chad Mizner, Kevin Mizner, Todd Boller, Zach Hurley, and Aiden Rowe. Honorary pallbearers included Joshua Mizner, Ed Weldon, Travis Hissong, Alex Lekai, Allen Warren, and Spencer Oxley. A Graveside Service was held in the Grafton Public Cemetery following the Funeral Service.
