Idonna R. Kuhns

A Funeral Service for Idonna will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Geneva, Nebraska with Pastor Tim Stacy presiding. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family present from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva, Nebraska. Graveside Services will be conducted following the funeral service at the Geneva Public Cemetery in Geneva, Nebraska. Memorials are to be directed to the Quilts of Valor or Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Idonna quietly passed into the loving arms of her savior on January 28, 2026, at Heritage Crossing in Geneva. She had a generous heart and boundless love for her family. She was cherished by many, especially her family, who will hold her memory close. Idonna Ruth Eva Kuhns of Geneva, Ne was born on November 7, 1936, to George and Dora (Bodtke) Schepker in Hebron, NE. Idonna grew up in Hebron and, after graduation, attended Junior college at Fairbury, NE, where she graduated with a teaching degree. Idonna taught 3rd grade in Shickley for two years and Ohiowa for a year, and also substituted for many years after the birth of her first child. She married Richard Kuhns on June 14, 1959, at Grace Lutheran church in Hebron. Blessed to that union were four children. Mark, Debra, Diane, and Michael. They lived on a farm four miles outside of Geneva, where they raised their children. Idonna always helped Rich with chores and farming. And loved the farm life. Idonna belonged to a women's extension club while living on the farm. She worked at Gambles in Geneva for 22 years. Idonna and Richard enjoyed square dancing and belonged to a card group for many years. In 1980, they built a new home in Geneva, and Idonna began a in home daycare where she cared for many children over the years that she loved dearly. In 1992, they sold their home and managed the Golden Rod Motel for 10 years. After Richard's death, Idonna continued to run the motel by herself for 3 more years before retiring and moving to a small home in Geneva. She worked when needed at Farmer and Son Funeral Home. She belonged to Prince of Peace Lutheran church in Geneva for 60 years. Her faith was something very important to her. She loved reading her bible and doing daily devotions. Idonna was an avid cook and enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. She enjoyed canning and having a garden. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Love for her family was first and foremost. Idonna also spent many hours helping with making quilts for Quilts of Valor. Idonna is preceded in death by her husband Richard Kuhns, parents George and Dora Schepker, sister and brother-in-law Naomi (Schepker) Drews and Ricky Drews, brother and sister-in-law Laverne and Maxine (Bottom) Schepker, brother-in-law Rodney Kuhns, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Don and Beverly (Hissong) Kuhns, and granddaughter Morgan Clark. Survivors include sons Mark (Marilyn) Kuhns, Michael (Joanna) Kuhns of Geneva, daughters Debra (Brian) Rokusek of Hebron, and Diane (Larry) Clark of Lincoln. Grandchildren Zachary (Sidney) Rokusek, Megan (Colton) Schaardt, Rylee Clark, Megan Wisemen, Morgan (Joey) Anderbery, Dirk (Ashley) Wiseman, Grant (Lexi) Wiseman, Dustin (Allie) Payne, MaKenna Kuhns, and Jordan Clark. Great-grandchildren Olivia and William Schaardt, Miles Rokusek, Asher, Theo, and Isla Wiseman. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Steve and Lynn (Kuhns)Sykes, sister-in-law Pat Kuhns, and many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
