Janis J. Frenzen

Janis Joann Frenzen was on January 6, 1930, to Thurman G. & Birdeen (Edwards) Apley on a farm southeast of Bruning, Nebraska. She passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Heritage Crossings Nursing Home in Geneva, Nebraska at the age of 95 years, 5 months, and 12 days. Janis was one of four children born in the family. Janis was baptized in the Methodist Episcopal Church in Bruning, Nebraska on June 22, 1930. She attended grade school at District 49 near Bruning, through the 3rd grade. The family then moved to a farm northeast of Bruning and she attended Harmony school through the 8th grade. She graduated from Bruning High School with the class of 1946. After graduation, Janis attended beauty school at Hastings Beauty Academy, receiving her cosmetology license in 1947. Janis returned to Bruning and practiced beauty work for 6 years. She was married to Robert Frenzen on February 1, 1953 and to this union one son, Richard, was born. Robert & Janis made their life on the family farm northeast of Bruning. On May 26, 1954, Janis was confirmed in Lutheran Faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Shickley, Nebraska. After she and Robert moved to Geneva, Janis became a member of Prince Of Peace Lutheran Church in Geneva. Janis lived a simple life in Geneva. She took pride in her home and enjoyed taking her dog, Shadow, on walks around Geneva. Janis was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Frenzen; her parents, Thurman & Birdeen Apley; brothers, Rex Apley and Don Apley; and sister, Beth (Wilson) Garrison. She is survived by her son, Richard Frenzen; granddaughter, Dawnna Frenzen; and nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service for Janis was held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Geneva. Pastor Tim Stacy presided over the Funeral Service. The recorded selections “One Day At A Time” and “Just A Closer Walk With Thee” were played for the service. Pallbearers for the service included Richard Frenzen, Ray Reichert, Josh Saatmann, and Corey Ellison. A Graveside Service was held in the Bruning Public Cemetery.
