Jodi M. Hockemeier

A Memorial Service for Jodi will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Firefighters Reception Hall in Lincoln, NE with Dustin Reinbold and Rev. Doyle Burbank-Williams officiating. Following the Memorial Service will be a Celebration of Life starting at 2:00 p.m. at the same venue. Casual resort attire is requested. No visitation will be held as cremation has taken place. In Lieu of Flowers - Memorials are to be directed to the Capital Humane Society or Make-A-Wish Foundation. No Graveside Service will be held at this time. Jodi Marie (Groeteke) Hockemeier was born to Steven C. Groeteke and Marilyn J. Groeteke on February 14, 1975, in Fremont, NE, and passed away unexpectedly June 10, 2024, at her home in Lincoln, NE, at the age of 49. Jodi was married to Mark Hockemeier of Lincoln, NE on May 30, 2004. Jodi graduated from Alamosa High School in Colorado and went on to earn her Bachelor and Master’s degrees from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. She also earned her MBA from Concordia University. She held several positions with the Cornhusker Hotel early in her career as well as the Embassy Suites in Omaha. She then applied her hospitality skills to the non-profit higher education industry with Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. One of her most significant events was organizing and leading 35 students on a month-long tour through the Peoples Republic of China. She joined the Professional Development and Training team at Duncan Aviation in 2019. In 2021 she was promoted to Engineering and Certification Scheduler, where she worked until the time of her death. At Duncan, she was instrumental in the hiring of Duncan’s engineering interns. Jodi also spearheaded the Women of Duncan Aviation employee resource group and served as chair. In addition to her full-time positions, Jodi fulfilled her passion for teaching through adjunct faculty roles with Concordia University, Metro Community College, and Southeast Community College. Jodi’s passion for life was infectious. Her fur-babies meant everything to her and she never missed an opportunity to pet a dog. She loved to laugh and made everyone she met feel like family. Jodi said yes to activities with friends like golfing, listening to live music, playing cards and traveling to tropical destinations around the world. She was generous with her time and supported local charities like Capital Humane Society, Cause for Paws Thrift Store, Forever Angels Toy Drive, The Garage’s Army of Angels, United Way, and many others. Jodi was preceded in death by her grandparents Ray and Muriel Groeteke and George and Dorthy Hynek. She is survived by her husband Mark Hockemeier of Lincoln, NE; parents Steve and Marilyn Groeteke of Livermore, CO; parents-in-law Jerry and Sharon Hockemeier of Eagle, NE; sister Jennifer Struck (Jeff) of Livermore, CO; sister-in-law Anne Hockemeier of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law Kari Hockemeier (Andrew Anderson) of Omaha, NE; nephews Andrew Wittenauer (Brianne) of Fort Collins, CO; Brigg Anderson, Utah Anderson; nieces Elli Wittenauer, Amira Kholov; great nephews Charlie Wittenauer, Asher Wittenauer.
