A Funeral Service for Nadine will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Geneva, Nebraska with Pastor Andrew Carter presiding. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family present from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva, Nebraska. Graveside Services will be conducted following the funeral service at the Geneva Public Cemetery in Geneva, Nebraska. Memorials are to be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Nadine's Funeral Service will be Livestreamed on Farmer & Son Funeral Home's Facebook page starting at approximately 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday. You do not have to have Facebook to view the livestream. Nadine Elaine Ochsner was born to Melvin and Mildred (Simacek) Higel on April 9, 1945 in Geneva, Nebraska, and passed away on May 14, 2025 at Heritage Crossings in Geneva, Nebraska at the age of 80. She was one of 3 children in the family. Nadine lived in Geneva, Nebraska most her life and was a graduate with the Geneva High School class of 1963. Nadine provided in-home daycare while her daughters were growing up and then worked in the kitchen at the Fillmore County Hospital for 26 years until her retirement. She was united in marriage to Ervin Ochsner of Sutton, Nebraska on December 3, 1965, and to them 4 children were born. Nadine was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and the Geneva VFW Auxiliary. She was on a women’s bowling league for several years. She loved to read, draw, macrame and other various crafts. She enjoyed being outdoors, planting flowers and listening to the birds sing. Nadine was a cancer survivor and participated in Relay for Life. She was a Husker fan through and through. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She loved traveling to attend her grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities. Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Mildred Higel and her daughter, Brenda. She is survived by her husband, Ervin of Geneva, Nebraska; daughters, Deb Davis of St. Peters, Missouri, Kristi Ochsner and John Ewoldt of Lincoln, Nebraska, Vicki and Philip Burt of Grand Island, Nebraska; grandchildren, Taylor, Riley, Madisson, Tyson, Logan, Parker, Brendan and Gavin; great granddaughter, Sutton; brothers; Jerry Higel of Gering, Nebraska and Robert Higel of Geneva, Nebraska.
