Wilda M. Noel

Eichelberger and Lena (Troyer) Eichelberger on January 12, 1922 at Clyde Park, Montana and passed away July 2, 2015 at Heritage Crossings in Geneva, Nebraska at the age of 93 years, 5 months, and 19 days. She was one of 7 children in the family. Wilda lived with her family in Clyde Park, Montana until the age of 3 then moved to Nebraska. Growing up in rural Nebraska, Wilda learned the value of family, hard work, and faith. These values formed her into the person we all loved. She accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized and became a member of Salem Mennonite Church where she remained a member until death. Wilda was united in marriage to Sterling L. Noel on October 31, 1946. Their union was blessed with 4 children. Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Friend. Wilda was all of these and more. She had the ability to make whoever she was with feel welcomed and loved. As one of her grandchildren said, “When Grandma was holding one of her grandbabies (or great-grandbabies), they were the center of her world for that particular moment, nothing else mattered.” She had a very special bond with each of her children and grandchildren, and as the family grew by marriages, births, and adoptions, this same strong connection was formed with each new family member. Wilda was a woman of deep, quiet faith in Christ. She had the heart of a servant and was constantly giving of herself through her work and love. She was very artistic and had the gift of creating beauty. She loved spending time in her garden and was very talented in the area of sewing and design. Anyone who knew her well likely enjoyed one of her famous pies, especially her chocolate peanut butter! As Edna St. Vincent Millay said, “Where you used to be, there is a hole in the world”. Our lives will never be the same without her presence here with us, but we know that we will see her again. There is no doubt a wonderful gathering in heaven as she is reunited with her husband who she has waited many years to see again, her son who she was never able to meet, her daughter-in-law whom she loved as a daughter, and countless other family and friends who went before her. “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” John 14: 1-4 Wilda was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Wayne, brother Don, husband Sterling, infant son Sheldon, daughter-in-law Michele Noel, parents-in-law Henry and Saloma Noel, sister-in-law Shirley and husband Vernon Kennel, brothers-in-law Duane Noel, Aal Schlegel, and Glen Roth. She is survived by son Merle, son Marlyn and wife Jan, daughter Sheri Pearson and husband Wendell, grandchildren Reg Noel and wife Monica, Randy Noel and wife Melissa, Ryan Noel and wife Bonnie, John Noel, Jamie Noel, Jennifer Noel, Erika Schroeder and husband Caleb, Shayne Pearson, and Caden Pearson. She was great-grandmother to Kaylee Noel, Elijah Noel, Brady Noel, Nora Noel, Natalie Noel, Kristine Noel, Cora Schroeder, and Jude Schroeder. Also surviving are brother Larry Eichelberger and wife Barbara, sisters Edna Schlegel, Wauneta Roth, Marjorie and husband Galen Kennel, sisters-in-law Edna Eichelberger, Frieda Noel, and many nieces and nephews.
